Bakersfield over UCSB men in OT 1-O!
Bakersfield held off #8 in upset. It's easy to say I thought UCSB was over rated this early in the season, now but that may have been the case. UCSB is a good team but this really must upset them. If they don't rebound quickly their dream of playing in the college cup at home will be over soon. Congratulations to the Roadrunners!
The guys at UCI and CSUN will be even more confident when they match up with the gauchos in conference.
UCLA opens away against Notre Dame and Indiana this weekend. The Bruins only have a few returning starters and a pile of freshman. They wil have their hands full this weekend.
The power shift out West is changing.

UCLA men over ND 1-0 The Bruins will not just give up. Krumpe always says the road to the NCAA goes through Westwood.
CSUB defeated Tenn/Martin 1-0. Our Women already beat the Bakers so that means we should win tomorrow right? Right, Coach has to guard against a let down and their keeper is good. She had 13 saves. Lion Ladies need to stay focused and make it happen.

The Matadors visit Sullivan Field tomorrow. If the ref doesn't keep a handle on this one it might get away from him. Last year was no exception in this rivalry, it was rough. It always is.
There were 7 yellow cards in the last game, 4 for the Lions that will seem like a picnic if this one gets out of control. The Lions and Matadors don't get along and don't seem able to play nice.
It all goes back to us knocking them out of the tournament a few years ago. It will be another battle.
Hope we get a lead, the Lion fans nerves are still frayed after that Aztec game!

#9 UCSB men drop 1-0 to #24 Creighton!
The gauchos 0-2-1 find themselves in early season trouble. Davidson may give them a break this weekend but they face UCLA and Harvard soon.
They will make room for LMU in the top 25 unless they turn it around quick. My advice is for them to buy their tickets now if they want to see the College Cup!

I think Creighton is closer to being #9 than the Gauchos.

UCSB unable to beat Davidson settle for 2-2 tie. Gauchos making room in top 25 for Lions!

UC Irvine and LMU continue to win out West. The other ranked teams in the West all seem to have some problems. Stanford is 0-3, UCSB of course is imploding and Saint Marys just beat Cal 2-1. Also USD lost yesterday to Dartmouth 2-1.
Still lots of important games to play. Hope the Lions can keep it going. One game at a time. Tomorrow is another big test for the LIONS!

Portland women have Texas A/M at home big game for Pilots and WCC. If Pilots can get by A/M this year all our RPIs will go up.
UCSB needs result against Harvard or they will finally disappear off everyone radar screens

Congratulations to the Pepperdine 7-3-2 women! Huge win over UCLA to finish their non conference run and set up their visit to Sullivan field next week.
The Peppers are on a run and have started to show up in the polls. TD thinks they will be the number three pick from the WCC for the tournament.

The Pepper win snaps the #9 Bruin 73 unbeaten match mark at home going back to 2005.
On the local mens side Fullerton wins 1-0 over UCSB dropping them to 500 on the season.
