A week to the big game.
Massey has our women at 33 and the Pepppers at 39.
Our home field will be an advantage.

It's only the first match of the conference season for the women, but the outcome may well be pivotal. Pepperdine wants to get back to the NC2As just like us. Some like Top Drawer think they are going to be the third WCC team to make it this year. TD just moved them up, this morning to #40 from 48 on their projection list after beating UCLA on the road.
If the Lions want to play this post season, they need to have some big wins in conference. What better way to start than a win at home over the Peppers!
Saturday at 1 on Sullivan Field! It should be exciting!

There are only seven conference games. Why the women don't play a home and away schedule with every conference opponent I don't know. Each match is so important and depending on how the schedule falls determining the home field advantage it can be critical for any teams season. I can't imagine them doing it in Basketball.
Massey gives almost a half goal to the home team.

Good luck always helps that's for sure. But this is a really good team and I think they'll make their own luck Saturday.
We have the home field advantage against them and San Diego this year which is a big plus. The battle for the top places will be fierce in this short competition. No room for any missteps.
The voting polls want to favor Pepperdine for now, but Massey gives us a slight edge and I don't know for sure but probably the rpi too.

We should have won this one! Credit the Peppers for fighting until the end. The strike for the tying goal was in the top corner and all but impossible to stop. You won't see many goals ever as good as that one.

Pepperdine still is in the Top Drawer poll as the third WCC team dropping from 40 to #44.
The NC2a posted their first RPI rating last Tuesday. We were well ahead of the Peppers at 39 I think. And the third WCC team. This is the most important poll after all.
The upcoming matches with Santa Clara and San Diego become even more important now.
A result against Portland?

It could happen. We are off their radar. We sure are capable of a surprise.
