The Lions are surely heading into a hostile arena when they travel to San Luis Obispo on Thursday evening.
They will face a large partisan crowd rooting for the Mustangs. There may not be 8700 for the midweek game, but there are not, I think, too many competing events in town on the 23rd. Those in San Luis seeking entertainment or just a reason to avoid study may all find their way to the match. I don't think there'll be too many Lion fans.
The Lions have slipped to 3-3 after a great start, but now really need a win to right the ship.
The Lions have been good at earning results on the road when they've needed to win. This is one of those times.

The Lions came to the crossroad last night and turned in the right direction! What a great effort and a fantastic game! The small group of Lion fans were lost in the crowd of over 1800 Cal Poly supporters but the Lions rewarded us for making the long trip up the 101 with some great soccer!
4-1!!!! The goals just kept coming. The Lions kept the pressure on, and the ball kept going in the net. It was great!

From the start the Lions came out focused. CP controlled the ball for the first eight minutes or so, the Lions were patient and defended well but seemed unable to get the ball.
But then on one of the Lion's first possessions forward, Tyler Krumpe found Logan McDaniel with a throw in. McDaniel's cross was right on target to the head of Jonas Reiter unmarked in front of the goal. Boom! 1-0!
Da Silva subbed in early in the first half and didn't take long for him to make an impact. He got in behind the defense and beat the keeper to a ball at the top of the box. His first touch was deflected but caromed forward and Phil collected the rebound behind the keeper and put it into an empty net for number 2.
Lots of shots for the Lions, they kept the pressure up for the rest of the half and the game. Artur Jozkowicz made it 3-0 just after the start of the second half with a low blast from outside the eighteen with all the Mustangs back on defense. I don't think the keeper ever saw it until it was in the net. A nice play by all the Lions. Baca and Ocampo both got assists on this one.
The Mustangs took the momentum back and fought to make a comeback. McDaniel got undercut going up for a header near midfield. CP gained control and attacked down the right and scored past our keeper to the far post. McDaniel had to be subbed out for the rest of the game. At the end of the game McDaniel seemed to be okay. Hopefully he'll be okay for Sunday.
The ref let that heavy challenge go, he seemed content to let most everything go in this game. It was obvious he didn't consider pushing in the back to be a foul. CP seemed to know this from the start and did it all night. Coach Krumpe made it a point to complain about it as the half ended. The ref nodded but it continued on just the same in the second half.
When Artur darted into the box and got the fourth goal CP's attack lost steam. Lots of Lions got some minutes subbing in during the last ten minutes.
Jack McCormick had a nice game in goal. He only got credit for two saves but he made some big plays, twice coming out strong, once to punch the ball away and once taking it off the foot of the attacker in the box.

Good report - thanks - I feel like I was there. Being back in CA probably helped and now the Lions have renewed confidence going forward. That Logan is a tough kid, hope he is OK!

Thanks 0045. Logan is not only tough, but one of our best. Where they have him playing at left back this year brings a new dimension to our team. He has the speed and skills to control in the back and still make an impact getting forward or providing service.
With all the goals against CP our defense didn't get the credit it deserved. It was solid and key to our success. Our two center backs didn't let anything come through the middle. Tyler got the start at right back and was solid all night.
