LMU Women have an opportunity to jump back into the thick of things this weekend at UCLA when they match up against Missouri and Utah. The Lions were close both matches in Oregon and traveling to Westwood should be an advantage. The Lions will be tough and the visitors will find there are no easy outs when facing WCC opponents.

LMU do Rebound and beat #26 Missouri 1- zip. That's five shutouts in the five Lion wins this year. Lion keeper Clark deserves much of the credit in this win. She was the last line of defense on eight or nine saves. In one of the two biggest plays of the game she turned Missouri away with a great save on a penalty shot when the Tigers tried to tie things up late in the second half. The Lion defense was on its heels for most of the last thirty minutes and under a continuous Missouri attack. To their credit the Lions bent but never broke and held off the Tigers. In the other big play, Lacey Bartels gave the Lions the only goal they needed thirteen minutes into the second half using her head to redirect a cross from Gallaudet.

The Lions needed a quality win to keep up with the other WCC Women. Portland, Santa Clara, and San Diego are ranked two, twelve, and eighteen respectively. The Peppers are just outside the top twenty-five and receiving a lot of votes. The Lions need to roar again Sunday against Utah!

Texas A&M proved Portland can be beaten tonight. Pilots lost 3-1 on road. Have they lost their chance for a number one seed? Santa Clara's confidence continues to grow after beating Wisconsin 2-1 today. Our match up Sunday with Utah is with one of the two teams to defeat the Broncos this year. It would be a great win. San Diego melted down against #22 Kansas, 5-zip.

The Peppers also dropped their match today. They lost to Long Beach 3-1. We face the 49ers at home next Friday. Confusing enough keeping track of who beat whom, but a string of wins now would really help our rpi. In the end our rpi is what's going to determine if we get in the tournament. Isn't it?

LMU Women fought back from twice from deficits to tie Utah. At the end it seems we were the agressors and Utah was lucky to escape with the tie. A good sign, I think that our offense is getting it together.
Pretty much everyone else in the WCC won on Sunday. Portland crushed SMU 6-0 trying to make up for their loss to Texas A&M. Pilot fans on "Pilot Nation" are somewhat distraught though that they have lost any hope for a number one seed and any home games in the tournament. Now they are starting to look over their shoulders at WCC foes. They are concerned so far mostly with Santa Clara. The Broncos have knocked off Notre Dame already. Portland still is the favorite but the WCC is going to be a dogfight.
