Looks like we bounced back nicely from the lost to Michigan and showed that our win against #6 UCSB was no fluke. Lions beat #5 Dartmouth 3-2 in what seems like an intense game in San Diego. Baca and Steffen Canty were named All-Tournament. www.lmulions.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/092009aaa.html

The Lions did it again! Another quality win against a ranked opponent. Dartmouth not only was ranked #5 but we handed them their first loss of the season. Rafa provided the scoring punch that put us over the top. I didn't see the game but what impresses me the most is the team chemistry with these guys. There are a lot of moving parts out there and these guys are really playing well and for each other. They started putting it together last year and have really carried it over to this season. They showed a lot today, scoring the game winner after initially leading two-zip. Lots more fun to follow! See you at the game Thursday!

San Diego also did well today. They knocked off #15 Michigan State. The WCC is going to be tough and all the conference matches will be battles. Two big wins for the WCC but ours vs Dartmouth was the real prize. All four teams in the San Diego tournament were 1 and 1. Somehow San Diego was named champions? I'm sure they rationalized it with goal differential or another mystery calculation that worked in their favor. Advantage to the team putting on the tournament I guess. Not a big deal now, the real tournament isn't until November.
