Riverside kept the Lions of the scoreboard until the last four minutes when Chris Bernardi scored giving LMU a one zip victory. The Lions seemed to be in control most of the game but couldn't push one across until almost the end. Max Young had a clean sheet, coming up big a couple of times in the beginning of the second half. UCR came close twice but were denied by Max and the woodwork. It was the only time that UCR put real pressure on the LMU goal. Even though the fans were anxious until the end the Lions always seemed confident they would eventually score. UCR resorted to a lot of fouls and yellow cards to slow the Lions down. The Lion attack kept running at the Highlanders and it finally paid off when Artur Jozkowicz got loose on a fine run down the right wing and played the ball to Bernardi for the goal.

Another win for the Lions. I'm sure the coaches wanted a bigger margin of victory but I'm sure they're happy with the result. I'm sure they'll think we could have done better finishing with all our chances and our big advantage in corner kicks. At the end we were the ones with all the energy pushing forward and UCR was hunkering down. We still kept our four in the back when the UCR red card gave us a man advantage and let the Lion attack just wear UCR out. We need to stay focused in Bakersfield on Sunday.
Soccer ratings .com has us at 30, and San Diego at 29. We are the two highest rated WCC teams. They have UCSB at 26, a more reasonable number than the polls that have them in the top ten. The two teams that have beaten us CSUN and Michigan State are 12 and 20 respectively
