The NCAA website published its first rpi table for this season for womens soccer yesterday. The Lions are ranked/rated #73.

Our Women's RPI is 73. It's clear what the Lady Lions need to do to get in the tournament. Beat up on the rest of the WCC. The other WCC RPI's ahead of us are Portland 4, Santa Clara 13, Peppers 62, St Mary's 64, and San Diego 65. Gonzo is 108 and USF is 116. I think we can do it and so does Top Drawer, they have us in their tournament projection at number 40. Five and Two in conference or better and we should be in anything less and it's going to be difficult to climb over enough people to get in. A result against Portland or Santa Clara would be even better. For now, beat the Peppers on Sunday and start climbing.

The Lady Lions survived the trip to Malibu on Sunday and left with a tie. A win would have been better but I think we still control our own destiny. San Diego knocked off Santa Clara 1-0 and knocked them completely out of both Soccer America's poll and Top Drawer's tournament projection. Top Drawer still has faith in the Lions having San Diego 40 and us 43 joining Portland 2 as the WCC reps in the tournament. I didn't see the game Sunday but our defense as usual held tight. We need wins to get in from here on out.

Having Erin sit out the Peppers game because of her previous red card didn't help our offense but having her back this week should help with our firepower up front. We need a win for sure Friday against Gonzaga and then maybe we can make something happen Sunday when the Pilots visit. Portland took the Zags out 7-0 last week. On their website, Pilot Nation, they figure on winning out and obsess about whether that will ensure a number one seed. The WCC is tough and so are the Pilots but they play the games for a reason. I look for someone to put another blemish on their record before the tournament. And it would be great if it was us.
