Great start by the Lions hardball team taking 3 out of 4 from UC Riverside. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Come out next weekend and support the Lions against Nevada

Yes, the boys are off to a good start. As always some tough games ahead. I'm looking forward to some great games. I'll be out there to see the Lions battling again this year. Go LIONS

The Lions got one vote in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll today. After a 7-1 start the Lions face some tough competion in the next two weeks. Hawaii, Fullerton and Irvine are on the agenda.. If the Lions keep up the good work more people will take notice. Interesting that both the Nevada and UCR coaches were on the panel. At least we impressed one of them!

After dropping the contest to Fullerton mid week the Lions had a nice come from behind 7-5 win over the Rainbows in today's opener.
With 2 out in the sixth the Lions scored 5 with clutch hitting to tie it and the added 2 out runs in the next two innings to win it 7-5. Hawthorne came on with 2 out in the top of the 8th and closed for the Lions. The Lions had a sweet 3 6 5 double play ( I think I got it right ) on a foul down the first base line to thwart a Rainbow rally late in the game.
Nice win for the Lions.

Another win today, Sunday, for the Lions. Strong pitching got the Lions to the ninth with the lead. Hawai'i made it scary loading the bases but the "Hawk" Ryan Hawthorne closed the door on the Rainbows. Series split 2-2.
May be too early to schedule a trip to Omaha, but it should be alot of fun watching the Lions this spring.

Nice bounce back win after a tough loss on Saturday. Pitching, defense, and timely hitting will win a lot of ball games. Lally did a great job especially since their pitching staff was limited due to so many games. 8 games in 10 days

Coach Frank Cruz returns to LMU today looking for a sweep of the season series this year. I think he'll have the Trojans fired up for this one. This mid week game will be another tough one. See you at the game at three.

We were in it and had a chance at the end but the rally fell short with the tying run at the plate. The Trojans hung on and got the win.

Nice finish for the Lions sweeping USD. Finishing above 500 at 30-25. The Lions showed their heart against the Toreros and ended the season on a high note.
The Lions are improving and can build on the teams record this year. Just wait til next year.
USF knocked off UCLA 3-0 last night for the WCC. UCLA made it close at the end and had a chance but USF shut em down. It was as curious as ever to watch how many Bruin fans streamed out of the stands when the first two Bruins struck out in the bottom of the ninth. Then with a bunt single, single and hit batsman UCLA brought the winning run to the plate only to end the game on a called third strike. The game was a good one but USF outplayed and over matched the Bruins. The Bruins could have easily been charged with 3 errors.
WCC baseball is tough. Hopefully the Dons will go a long way and prove we deserve more than one berth. Convince me that the sixth team in the pac 10 is better than the second in the WCC. I know Gonzaga doesn't think so.

After dropping a game to UCI today the Dons face UCLA again tomorrow in an elimination game. Gotta root for the Dons and the WCC. Can't make it to the game but I'm wishing them the best of luck.

The Dons couldn't do it twice and fell to the Bruins in an elimination game. Not all was lost as UCI edged out the Bruins 4-3 to get the spot in the super regionals. We can root them on now against Virginia.
