With the boom in HS lacrosse on the west coast, and the Title 9 issue hanging around the necks of the Pac10 schools-is there a big opportunity for LMU and the WCC in D1 Lacrosse?
If we are not thinking about this, we should be-this gives us a major outdoor sport that can be played on campus in the spring and lend itself to homecoming tailgates, etc....
Rumor is that SC is thinking of getting in-why not be the first D1 program in California? Is our administration foresighted enough to see this?

Why not, but Title IX would still be a big head ache for LMU anyway and the rest of the WCC.
Would we need men and women teams to maintain Title IX balance?

yes it is-but take womens at the same time....plenty of girls out there too.
St Marys is D1 in women's....but remember that we don't have football so the Title IX issues are easier to deal with.
Point is-done right lacrosse can be a revenue sport with 3-5K per game on campus....and the potential of getting LMU on TV as the west coast game hits the ground running...

The Big question though is lacrosse even on Dr Bill's or the school's radar? The Club team has a lot of alumni that could make enough of a racket to help out if D-1 is a possibility. Without some external force exerting pressure I am not sure if the athletic administration would take any independent action on their own.
