Running unattached last night at the Olympic Trials Tara placed 6th in her first attempt to make the US team. She smashed her personal best running a 32:09.15. A great effort but just a little short of making the team, only about 10 seconds off the winning time. She gets another shot Monday in the 5K after qualifying in both the 5 and 10. Wishing her well and the best of luck.

Tara ran a nice race in the second heat tonight in the 5K. She finished fourth with the first six automatically qualifying for the 5K final. I think it's Thursday. It was great watching her run in her LMU colors. Great job Tara! She ran a 15:49.

Tara's race is Thursday at 7:15 pm our time. It is scheduled on TV, channel NBCSN which I found on Direct TV channel 603 here in LA for the semis. You may find the race broadcast elsewhere but I'm not sure.

Tara came up short in her effort to make the U S Olympic team in the 5K tonight. She finished in the second half of the field of 16. She was in the race and in position with less than a mile to go but when the field broke and strung out she lost contact with the leaders.
I'm sure she is disappointed tonight but what an effort this week. Tara was in both the 5 and 10 K finals. She finished 6th in the 10K final making her one of the top distance runners in the country. Her effort in the 5K came up short after placing 4th in her 5K heat but again she was competing with all the elite runners in the country. Way to go Tara great effort we are proud of you!
I know Tara is planning on continuing her running career, I'm sure we'll see her on the national stage again.
Question for the Athletic Dept: Is Tara the first of our track/field athletes to make it to the track and field olympic trial and or finals?
