That's a serious bummer. Hoping we hang onto Payne.

This is turning into the ultimate what makes a better basketball team: Better talent with inferior coaching vs. Better coaching with less talent. I sure do hope the latter is superior because now we have lost two high major recruits and an all WCC freshman, Really unsure about Payne's status as well. Hope the news coming soon is impressive.

This is looking ugly. We supposedly bring in a better coach and our star players are leaving. Either Dunlap is bringing in better talent or he is really good at running off good taleant like Aggers was. Based on his history with the Wizards and being overlooked for many head coaching jobs when he was the top assistant at a top program, I think he is going to have a hard time relating to players. I hope I am wrong.

This type of thing is not unexpected. Any top player or recruit will want to play for the coaches that recruited them. This is the coach they have been talking, texting and dealing with for over a year. When a new coach comes in all the current players will question if there the "new coaches guy." Dunlap has done an admirable job getting some older/seasoned players at this point because it is difficult to recruit top high school talent at this stage of the process.

Well at least the nerves that I had about Dunlap had some merit even though I was told that it was all part of the plan. Yikes. While I thought Payne had more upside than Levin, with all of the transfers, those were our big two. Gonna be hard to hold on to Payne, Siame and stay out of the cellar. Of course, we were in the cellar last year so that means there won't be a huge drop-off. hahaha.
In all seriousness, I am still 100% behind the firing of Max Good because we weren't going anywhere, but this Dunlap hiring already looks terrible. Basically putting our faith in a bunch of older Euros. (I'll qualify myself to say that when I was a frosh at LMU I was bitter that the then tennis coach only extended walk-on opportunities to Euro players and was obviously biased in their favor so maybe I still hold that grudge).
I know its late in the game for high school seniors, but given that he has "NBA" credentials, you would think that would carry some weight.
Right now, LMU is a dead program that needs to revived. This might be as brutal as Good's first year when it took Jared Dubois 40 points to beat Cal State Bakersfield, except this time itll be Egbeyemi.
So about that open gym run...

well this is all doom and gloom might be good to give Dunlap a bit of a go im sure he knows a bit about getting good players perhaps those players that have left were worried about some hard work coming up perhaps a bunch of older Euros is what is needeed who knows but Dunlap deserves a bit of a go before he is lynched

Well said Aussie - let's give Dunlap a chance to impact the program. I am sorry to hear about Levin's loss though but it was predicted by Lionsroar some while back before Dinlap was named.

Just put yourself in Levin's position. You play great for a losing team (blame that on what you want) and gain attention from high major schools. The coach that brought you in is fired, you get an out, and a chance to go from a (losing) mid major to a high major school. I know what I would do if I wanted a future in basketball.
If Dunlap can improve the Lions record from last year, after losing this many star players, he should be able to get the attention of some great prospects this coming up season. If he is serious about making this a winning program, and not just a way to help promote his training videos and his ridiculous tweets, he should already be eying the next group of players.
I like what Dunlap has done so far and do not blame anyone for leaving the team.

I really don't even know if you can blame Dunlap for Levin leaving, I would actually blame Good and the state of the program in comparison to Levin's talent at this point. Regardless of who the new coach was going to be Levin will have the opportunity to take his talents to a better program than what LMU is at this time. I think the Levin situation is more based on him becoming a better player than people expected outside of LMU and he knows he has the opportunity to cash in so to speak. I alsothink Dunlap is going to bring us back just gotta give the guy a chance. That being said we really can't afford to lose anyone else. Fingers crossed...

Paperclip, I should have read your post before writing my reply. Looks like we have similar views on this situation though.

USF is the case study for the latter point. Walters manages to run off multiple players every year yet they still manage to be in the upper half of the conference.

I'm beginning to think this could be a sh#t show. If Dunlap doesn't work out quick, Husak's gone, probably form the profession of Athletic administration entirely.
