Orlando left because he demanded his good friend Brandon Walker remain on the team. The team back then consisted of Orlando and a bunch of NAIA talent and D2 talent. Walker later went on to Alaska Anchorage. He was not a D1 player, but with him went Orlando.
Mini Calipari Bayno recruited better in 2 weeks than Dunlap has in a year and a half.

Thanks for the confirmation loyalion - and I agree Bayno's recruits had a positive impact on our quality of play for the next 4 years at least. I still regret that Bayno couldn't handle the pressure of head coach - he was a gem of a coach and recruiter. He taught skills and his players liked him - imagine that today?

I am confused, we have conflicting reports about Siame's departure on another thread. The situation begs 2 questions: (1) Did Patson quit Dunlap or did Dunlap fire Patson? (I suspect it is the former but my bias may be clouding my vision). And (2) Suppose Patson was "dismissed" by LMU, does he still have to "red shirt" a year before he can play at uh say Long Beach State.

That was not why OJ left. It is always tough when there's a coaching change and the tipping point for Orlando was the way a certain assistant coach treated the manager. OJ just didn't like the staff and Bayno thought he was fine without him. To Bayno, Viney was better on paper so he didn't care. It would have been great to have both.

There must be more to Siame's story than is written Too bad about his health issues
