Unfortunately, Social distancing at Gersten probably looks like a typical game.

"If you were to look at our attendance in volleyball and basketball, unfortunately we are well-positioned to be able to social distance."

Great stuff there. Some surprises - Nick Stover, Josh Spiers, Simon K. and Tutu. Adom Jacko and Brandon Worthy were also out there somewhere as was Drew Viney but may be out of the game today. Thanks for the research. That Sherman Gay fellow is quite a physical specimen, eh?

Wow, this is fantastic!! Some names definitely surprised me more than others, and really neat to see Calvin Amayo’s “old man game” absolutely dominating it in Iran!! I always liked David Humphries, too, glad to see he’s doing well.
Vernon Teel still rebounds like someone 6 inches taller than he actually is, so gritty!
And yes, Sherman Gay improved more from his freshman year to junior year than anyone I’ve ever seen, except for now maybe Markusson!
Thank you so much, and hope everyone continues to thrive.

Great article about Worthy. Answers why I could never find him when I was looking for his pro career news. Bummer that injuries robbed him of his career but amazing to hear about his life choices and path to becoming a dad and having a career as an educator. He’s impacting so many lives. Shoutout to my fellow teachers/coaches during these crazy times.
In that wonderful photo of Worthy’s off balance 3, I can see so many faces of my old classmates, friends and acquaintances . You can’t see me though because my group is just cut off to the side next to the court, but I was there to see PSAFE guy tackle a student who tried to rush the court lol. I remember Reggie Theus’s face of anguish.
What a team they were. I remember watching the Great Alaska shootout and the announcers guaranteed that both teams were headed to the NCAA tourney .
Unfortunately so many injuries. Not just Worthy but Matty Knight got a concussion. He was my wife’s project partner in class and missed her presentation lol.
That was the closest my generation got to real college basketball. I missed the WCC tourney game the year before because I was out on an Alternative Break. It was only the second major highlight reel after Adam Morrison dropped 40 on us in National TV in 05. That was a great couple of years of basketball. Very entertaining.

Brandon Worthy was truly a great player. As much as I loved watching Anthony Ireland dominate play, Brandon dominated game after game. He was an amazing player. Slb-I’ve got one up on you. I was in Spokane for that game with the missed layup. I was in the arena, sitting basically on the baseline so I had a perfect view of “that shot.” Yes, Chris Ayer should’ve made it but it wasn’t quite as easy a shot as people made it out to be. The Lions were so close to beating the Zags. I remember cringing when Brandon picked up that silly reach-in foul. He came out and the rest of the Lions just couldn’t keep up. LMU would’ve won that game if Worthy could have stayed in the game.
Slb- you get one back on me because I didn’t witness the famous falling down shot. An amazing play, but typical Brandon Worthy. When Brandon went down with his career ending injury, it was a sad day. So much promise for both him and the team.
I partially blame Coach Tention for that injury. He had inherited a really solid team and only needed to recruit one or two decent players to give LMU a tournament team. Instead, he got nothing. Brandon just had to do too much by himself to keep the Lions in each game. The way he put himself out there in every play, it was no surprise that he got hurt.
He was such a pleasure to watch. I’m glad to hear things are going well for him now.

Brandon worthy arguably my favorite lmu lion since I became a fan (2005). Was there for New Mexico State. Rushed the court after we won. So fun. Watching that replay on YouTube makes me happy. We’re not Worthy!!! 👏👏👏👏👏!!!
