When is the latest time a team with our W-L record was in the NCAAs? It could happen!

If we get in the tourney we will be above .500, so a team or 2 like us gets in every year, Austin Peay just got in as an 8 seed in their conference...

I may only have 20 more minutes to fantasize about LMU winning the national championship this year, and I'm going to use it.

We aren't going to win with brown 2-11, he needs to find his mid range jumper or start finishing at the rim/kicking it out for made shots.

Our offense is absolutely horrendous! Our defense is playing great. But we don't even hit the fcking rim on half our offensive possessions. So hard to watch

Brown and Tutu are combined 2-18. You got to be JOKING. Brandon Brown is 2-14. This is exactly what I said yesterday. Apparently the All Conference selection went to his head and he thinks he needs to carry this team without Jacko. HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Not only is he 2-14, he only has 2 assists and literally has not taken a decent shot the entire game. I do not think I have seen anything quite like this and why isn't someone doing something about it. Season over. What a lost opportunity.

Rswan, unfortunately, pretty dead on analysis. Only reason we didn't lose by 30 is cause of our tough defense

This is where we need Jacko, he was our one go to player to get a bucket. Offensively Haney was the only player who played above average. Watching a team score under 50 will always be painful to watch, regardless the end of this season was good enough for me to optimistic going into next.

golions1444, not always good to be right. This team flat out will never get to the next level without a point guard. Don't blame Dunlap, but he has a JC kid, who dribbles too much, has no discipline AT ALL and plays like a typical JC kid. This is precisely why the Izzo's, Calipari's, Few's etc...do not recruit JC point guards and never have. Unlike the bigs, the JC point guards have a tendency to pull stunts like this. How in the hell does your off guard score 19 points on 10 shots and your point guard scores 7 points (including a gimme fast break layup) on 16 shots and only has 2 assists. Brown is incapable, or unwilling, to find shooters. He hasn't all year long. I don't care what anyone says, tonight was proof that Haney could be elite. He is only a Sophomore and led all scorers in a big time nationally televised game against a 25 win team and he flat out does not have a PG. And its not just Haney. Tuach, McClendon, Spiers all could really be good with a point guard who had the desire to get to the paint and SEE THE COURT and find some joy in finding shooters. LMU does not have that player rostered right now and until they do, this team will be an also ran and maybe sneak in to the NIT next year. Tonight was as lost an opportunity as I have seen in decades of watching college basketball teams piquing and potentially riding old Mo in to the NCAA tourney. Would have played a very winnable, good matchup Pepperdine and then rode a 5 game winning streak to the WCC Championship game. This was a defining loss.

Instead of focusing on the obvious negatives of today's game, I'm going to praise the heart and determination of this still recently assembled and inexperienced team. Who would have thought we would have a 6 point lead at any point this game?! We just clearly ran out of gas at the end because we played a back to back.
Bottom line is we have more wins than last season, and have improved as a team towards the end of the regular season, had a good win against USD and gave SMC a tough game in the conference tourney. I'm excited for next season as the consistent Senior contributor that we lose is Money. Go Lions!

-I think our defense was on point today -we were 2-17 at one point in the second half and trailing by 10. Had we made 5 or 6 more shots we would have been leading (assuming we were shooting 40-50 percent) - But SMC came out in the half playing amazing defense and matched ours, but they are WAY bigger than us and our guards couldn't get a shoot in the lane - when the guards drove the lane and found a shooter, SMC would protect the weak side very quickly. - we knocked them on their heels early, but we ran out of gas in the second and SMC adjusted.
As for the comments disparaging Brown and why we picked up a jc guard; here's my perspective and the Dunlap's I believe: We had virtually NO point guard last season. I cringed watching our guards bring the ball up the court many times only to see it get stolen away because the opposing team's coach exploited this obvious weakness. So how do we deal? We tried and almost landed a great guard from high school that ended up at Mizzou by a hair. So we fill in the hole with guard that has jc experience and not high school. And I think Brown did an amazing job as well as Dunlap for filling this big gap we had. So you criticie Brown, but let's be reasonable with our options. What would you do?

The Lions played great defense for about 25 minutes and were in control of this game. St. Mary's made some great adjustments and took away a lot of what we wanted to do on offense. I am sure Brown and Tutu's continued attempt to penetrate the seams and drive to the lane was by design, The hope was to drew fouls, convert on some of the drives, and get the Gaels to lay off our shooters. Unfortunately, we didn't draw fouls, the shots didn't fall, and St. Mary's was able to blanket Haney, Humphries, etc. The Gaels defense in the lane was excellent. Remember, they are a very good team. Brandon Brown has done an admirable job for us this year and a case could be made that if he and not Jacko had been out the last 6 games that we don't win 3 in a row. The second half last night was tough but you have to give credit to St. Mary's and remember all the floaters and free throws Brown made this year before you dismiss him. Tutu has made great strides as well and I like our backcourt next year. That said, I agree that we need to make a freshman point guard a prime target for next year's class. Nice season Lions!
