Gonzaga - Part II

Since our first game in Spokane, which we lost by 34 points, the Zags have lost to Saint Mary's but won a big game over #17 Kentucky on the road.
The Zags have strong front line players with 6'9" strongman Ike (pronounced E-kay), 6'10" Gregg, 6'8" Watson and 6'10" freshman Huff, who sports a soft hook as well as a 3 point shot.
This will be a challenging game on national TV for the Lions with our depleted roster.

Lewis having a concussion… Now it makes sense why he hasn’t been on the bench. Poor guy, hope he feels better soon.

Yes it looks like we would have Harris and McBride back for the tournament, four weeks from now for Keli is cutting it pretty close.

Too bad about Issanza.

Now that we’ve had a week to prepare for this situation, I hope we are playing a zone defense and not running ourselves ragged fighting over screens. Great effort against Pepperdine but we were clearly gassed in the second half.

Also Coach needs to use his timeouts better. Don’t call a time out just before a media time out at the 12 or eight minute mark. Those drive me insane. Space out the timeouts.

Good energy so far. But 3 fouls in the first four minutes. Why do we feel like we have to play pressure man defense 30 feet from the basket?

We need to just be sitting in a zone and get rebounds and hope they miss their outside shots.

What a fun half to watch! Really proud of the guys no matter what happens in this game. Great sequence with Wright hitting a three, up by one.

And congrats to Johnston. He laid a goose egg in Spokane and has been absolutely on fire in the first half!

6 scholarship players in uniform and hanging in there! I expect the second half to get away from us (unless Johnston goes for 50) but love the effort and at least keep it exciting for the fans. This year has been riddled by injuries but this team doesn't quit.

It was a well played, highly entertaining game until the Kate run by the Zags. Good to see on national tv and with a good, enthusiastic crowd. Hard to figure the team this year. Sooo inconsistent. It’s a shame. There are certainly holes on the roster but the guys have shown they can be competitive with most any team. Maybe they will pull it together for the WCC tournament??

I was at the game tonight. Took my dad because he wanted to see us play the great Gonzaga. Admittedly, I was preparing for a blowout, and yet, there we were, going toe to toe for most of the game. Great effort by the team all around, and a great atmosphere tonight at Gersten. To what others said, we just ran outta gas at the end (tough to keep it up with all our injuries). Shout out to Will for a great game, I owe you an apology. I was unfamiliar with your game. Hope we can heal up and make a run at the WCC tourney. Go Lions 🦁
