At one point during this season, LMU was 9-1. That mostly reflected (the lack) of schedule strength. LMU finished the season 18-12. Meaning they went 9-11 the rest of the season.
LMU has a RPI of 150 but a schedule strength of 221 and that was improved by playing in the WCC. So Coach Wilhoit needs to stop scheduling the little sisters of the poor during the non conference.

I'm not too sure about Coach Wilhoit in general.

One other question about Coach Wilhoit. Why hasn't her name come in when jobs open up? During her time at LMU, Trakh from Pep, Danker from SCU, Caren H, also from SCU, and Kelly Graves from Gonzaga, have either moved onto other jobs, some to the Pac-10, and in Graves case was a finalist for some job.
But why hasn't Wilhoit? Maybe she is comfortable and doesn't want to move. But it could also be she hasn't been contacted by other schools.

I think she is very comfortable at LMU. Even though this year was a disappointment she really has built the program from nothing. We didn't really have any good offensive posts this year. Also we need a vocal leader that wasn't there. Over all the women's teams mental toughness just didn't exist.

It is not coincidental that a good women's program runs in tandem with a good men's program. Gonzaga women came from the bottom and rose with the men. There is no gender separation here - a good basketball program is a good basketball program.

Some schools like Georgetown, the WBB program is bad while the men's program is very strong. Florida won the men's title back to back but their women's program struggles. For a long time the men's program at Stanford was terrible, while the women's program was a top 10 program.

Our girls have always been stronger than the guys, competition-wise. While the guys were down in the dumps in 2004, the girls were undefeated. They became the season champions AND the WCC champions.

While Julie has been at LMU a long time I think she still has a strong will to move the program forward. That being said we need to bring in some size in order to win consistantly. Against Gonzaga our paint contributed 6 points and on D they don't block or alter many shots. Six foot post players will not put us in the NCAA tournament. Our wing people are more then capable but the lack of a post game makes the offence stall for many minutes in some games. Maybe a trip to Europe to find some big girls is in order if we can not get it done locally.

Cagegirl, "dumps in 2004". FYI, 2004 was lmu men's basketball first winning season since 1995-96. the girls were 13-1 in WCC.

Maybe Scholl can use his connections in Africa to bring in some tall ones - Kenyans are giants!

If they can give us at least 18 points and 15 rebounds a game I will take two.

First, you guys say we haven't played well since 1990. Now, when I make a comment about the guys being down, you tell me I'm wrong.
Geez Louise - make up your mind!
and, as a matter of fact, I know that the girls were quite POed that no one went to their games, when they were actually winning them all, but the boys were still playing poorly - compared to them.
So are you guys just going to pick and choose which seasons you say the guys did well on? Or can we just set one season in stone and be done with it?

The women's team has underperformed the last few seasons and the head coach will even admit to it. Unfortunately no women's team has the luxury of just being "better" than their male counterparts in order to bring spectators in. You have to really have a quality product on the floor and for women that is often having one of the top team's of the nation. I don't expect LMU to be a top 25 team year in and year out but we need to strive for building a nationally competitive team.
