There was some talk of Carroll a few months back. His interest in LMU had to do with a connection with Bayno, so he probably won't be looking at us any more. My understanding he is doing a prep year. He is a good player and I know Michigan has also shown interest. We are pretty stacked at the guard position anyway. We need another big power forward or center.

Recent reports on Carroll:
Lubbick, Carroll lead New England Playaz The Spring Fling offered a chance to see some top-notch talent very early in the daunting AAU circuit. This event featured strong play from teams, despite the fact that they have not practiced together very long because the prep basketball season just came to an end.
During the championship game for the 17U division, the New England Playaz -- led by co-Most Valuable Players Nate Lubick and Austin Carroll -- outlasted DC Assault, who was led by fellow Duke recruits Josh Hairston and Tyler Thornton. This hotly-contested battle featured a rarity on the AAU circuit: great team defense. In the ultimate gut-check game, the New England Playaz came away with the overtime victory, due to help from some timely buckets by guard Denzel Brito.
Standout Players
Austin Carroll, 6-3 (SG) 2009, Bedford, Mass./Worcester Academy
Carroll absolutely excels as a spot-up shooter with virtually unlimited range. When he gets his feet set, Carroll will drill jumpers from well-beyond the 3-point line, which opens up driving lanes for his teammates. He has a very efficient stroke and has no wasted motion on his jumper. He tends to miss from the perimeter only when he does not finish his shot and hold his follow-through, instead, he will sometimes start running back on the other end right when he releases the ball. Though he does not have exceptional quickness and struggles some when he puts the ball on the floor, he does a good job of using his strength when he gets a guy on his hip and will finish at the rim or draw the foul, which usually results in two points due to his touch at the free throw line. Carroll has good ballhandling skills, plays a tough brand of basketball and gets the most out of his ability. Carroll makes his teammates better and passes the ball well as a shooting guard and can play some point guard in a pinch.
Still shows LMU and Holy Cross in his "considering" list.

Maybe this kid has the money (and desire to come to a quality program to become a "walk on" for our team. His dad is former coach for the Celtics. (sorry, I'm having a dream!)

Carroll is still shown on ESPN as undeclared. He still lists LMU and Holy Cross as his "considering" schools. Here is his latest evaluation from ESPN:
Evaluation
April, 2009: Carroll absolutely excels as a spot-up shooter with virtually unlimited range.
Maybe his family has the $$ to come to beautiful LMU and join the team as a "walk on?" From the evaluation, he will be a contributor somewhere. Rating is 84. He is 6'3" and 185.

Austin Carroll still not commited - lists only LMU and Holy Cross as "considering" Holy Cross had five seniors, and has four recruits. But also had 14 players on last years roster so perhaps they are also out of scholarships. Will this become another "Corey Counts" for LMU? Even if the coaches are not interested, Austin may be and he is 6'3" rated 84.

The last I read he was going to go to prep school for a year. Michigan has already show interest in him...I doubt he will be walking on at LMU.
