I hope you noticed that our freshman are on track to break freshman records this year. Kevin Young has already set the freshman record for rebounds for the season and for a single game by a player of any class. And Jared DuBois is on track to break Orlando Johnson's freshman scoring record set last year of 383 points averaging 12.4 ppg over 31 games. DuBois already has 308 points over 24 games with at least 7 games to play, and is averaging 12.8 ppg. So, if Jared stays healthy and Teel continues to rally these young guys (did you notice Vernons encouragement of Jared in our Pepperdine game when he made a jumper despite an off night?), OJ will be history! Go Jared! Go Kevin! Go Lions!

That's interesting to know about DuBois. Good luck to him. Cool facts about Kevin. I guess when you have a team pretty much living and dying by these freshmen we should expect these kind of records.

Correction to my original posting. Young did not set the all time rebound record for upper classes - just for freshmen. Kevin Young is on track to break the freshman record for steals in a season - has 40 now and the record is 44. DuBois now has 346 points, freshman scoring record is 383 (Orlando Johnson) and 4 games left. Jared needs to average 9.3 ppg to break the record. The last two games he scored 10 points (off night vs SD but we won) and 28 points (vs Santa Clara). Go Jared! Go Kevin!

Update - Kevin posted 4 steals vs Gonzaga and is now tied with the freshman record. DuBois dropped in 9 points (questionable travelling call on one three pointer which was waved off) and now has 355 points. Go Kevin! Go Jared! You will be competing for minutes next year!

Dubois needs 10 points in the next two games to displace OJ as freshman scoring king - no problem!

You got it lionsfan and the PA announcer was asleep at the switch and did not make the call. Congratulations Jared! Young continues to add to his steal record making many key plays especially late in the game. And of course, his freshman rebounding total.

What can you say - they will figure it out by Saturday. DuBois now has 391 points vs 383 by Orlando and at least two games left to play.
