The Tale of the Boxes
How to lose to San Diego – 70-59 San Diego Jan 17, 2009
Enter the game with one win while playing on the road. Have Kevin Young shoot 2 for 8, score 7 pts and gather only 3 rebounds but 4 fouls. Corey Counts shoot 3 for 9 for another 7 points. Have Marko Deric play 11 minutes before fouling out guarding Gyno Pomare and Rob Jones inside while they score 18 and 9 pts respectively. Watch Matt Dorr score 11pts on 3 for 5 shooting. Shoot 35% for the game while San Diego shoots 48%. (Note: Sweezy played 20 quality minutes shooting 2 for 4 and grabbing 5 rebounds.)
How to beat San Diego – 65-57 LMU February 12, 2009
Enter the game with one win while playing at home. (Maybe this one win thing isn’t important?) Have Kevin Young shoot 5 for 11 with 11 points, 11 rebounds and only 3 personal fouls. Marko Deric shoots 6 for 11 with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 personal fouls in 28 good minutes. Teel shoots 6 of 15 including 3 of 5 from beyond the line for 21 points with 9 rebounds in 35 minutes. Overcome an off night for DuBois who shot 2 for 9 for 10 points. Hold Matt Dorr to 2 points on 1 for 8 shooting. “Hold” Pomare and Jones to 24 pts total. Shoot 42% (52% in first half) versus 36% for San Diego. Play at home and play hungry with a view to the future.
In short, put the ball in the basket better than your opponent, play solid defense and don’t foul out.
We should win the first round in Vegas if the rims are friendly.

Dammit you stole rules #2 and #3 of my basketball refresher course!
So I'll skip to #4: don't recklessly drive into a quadruple coverage wall (no names need be mentioned) And #5 (special for Marco Deric): anticipate that someone might pass the ball to you. The "Whoa, hey! I wasn't expecting that! hehe" ball fumble/turnover is getting old.

Sorry Stonewall Referring to Teel no doubt - this is why he sat so quickly last Thursday. Good said after a good Teel outing recently that he almost had a "quadruple" double - including turnovers from reckless play. And hey Marco, how about making a layup - Counts can do it at 5'11" - why not you at 6'9" with no one contesting? My pet peeve with Marco (among others).
