I remember it like yesterday. The alley-oop from Terrell, the roar of the crowd. We were steamrolling another opponent on the way to a WCC tournament crown.
And then...it stopped.
Heaven called down asking for the best we had. They needed a power forward and Bankman was being called home.
Today I cried. Just like every March 4th for the past 19 years.
Then I smiled.
RIP Hank.

Hank and Barkley the two greatest undersized big men to play the game of Basketball. A life cut short by tragedy. What a pleasure to watch LMU during those day's. MesaPilot1

mesapilot1, the way Portland reacted in 1990 was very admirable. The fact that then-coach Larry Steele had undergone a heart bypass just a year or two earlier (if I'm not mistaken), and that Terrell's brother Josh Lowery was on the court and standing next to Hank when he went down, made it really hit close to home for you guys, as well. The Pilots were a class act all the way. Thanks mesapilot1.

I was also talking to the author of the book. He had some great stories. He also told me that ESPN is going to do something to celebrate their 30th anniversary. They are going to do the top 30 stories from the past 30 years. Hank Gathers and the 89-90 team is getting a full hour show about them. I will be excitied to see it.
