Joe Lunardi had Saint Marys in the NCAA - probable based on Patrick Mills game vs Eastern Washington on Friday. He also had USC out - and their win changed his predicts (between 5 pm and 8 pm EDT) to show SMC out. We'll see how it plays out tomorrow.

ESPN had Saint Mary's chances very low to make the bubble. Some commentator said the problem was their low RPI playing such lowly teams as LMU.
Whoo Hoo! We got talked about on ESPN!

That Lunardi guy changes his mind every three hours. SMC is in for now (noon PDT) according to Joe. I think they bumped out Penn State.

If Miss St wins the SEC then the Gaels are probably out.

Recent from ESPN Bubble Watch:
Saint Mary's [26-6 (10-4), RPI: 48, SOS: 159] Instead of sitting and watching other bubble teams try to win at-large bids, the Gaels played a regular-season game Friday night, beating Eastern Washington 85-65. Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett didn't schedule the game until last week and wanted to use it to showcase point guard Patty Mills. Mills missed his team's final nine regular-season games after breaking his right hand, and he looked shaky in the Gaels' two games in the WCC tournament. Mills scored 19 points on 6-for-14 shooting against Eastern Washington, a 12-18 team from the Big Sky Conference. It was Saint Mary's 26th victory of the season. Only six teams with 26 wins have been left out of the NCAA field. (Creighton, Niagara and Charleston also won 26 games this season.) The Gaels have two victories over RPI top-50 opponents, having beaten Utah State at home and San Diego State on a neutral court. They lost to Gonzaga three times, including an ugly 83-58 defeat in the finals of the WCC tournament. It probably will be a close call on Selection Sunday.

With Miss St. winning the SEC things are even bleaker for St. Mary's. It probably would have helped them to beat us soundly and with out some of the players questionable antics in front of Dan Gerrero who is on the selection committee, and who was watching the game in Gersten.

Lunardi on his 3 pm (EDT) report has SMC out of the NCAA. Only bubble teams in are Maryland and Creighton. SMC can probably beat Creighton. Oh well. I think you are right ironlions - they did not handle themselves like a class program at Gersten.

For what it's worth, Dick Vitale rated Arizona over St. Mary's as the biggest injustice of the selection, he was actually pretty upset about it.

St. Mary's is not in because of all of the Conference Tournament suprises. Temple, Miss. St, USC, Cleveland St.,
The case that nobody is making is how well St.Mary's and Gonzaga were..I believe that St. Mary's and Gonzaga were at point better than any Pac 10 Team

St. Mary's should have been in before Arizona. Patty Mills would have brought a lot of excitement to the tournament. Bummer for SMC and the WCC.

USC's win didn't knock out SMU - the MSu win today did. Aside from that, UofA is rewarded for losing 5 of their last 6 games with a tourney bid and Saint Mary's is out? ? The committee may as well have put Kentucky in the tournament too.

Great conversation - lets have Saint Marys win the NIT eh? With a win over Arizona in the final.
