I got to see Alex and Q in game of pick up this afternoon. Its hard to make an assessment on one game but these are some brief notes.
Alex - Body is kind of what you would get if you mixed Ashley and Sherman Gay. - Not the quickest but hustles and uses his wing span to play D - Has a nice shot but a bit unorthodox. Likes to spot up from the top of the post - Got way up on a thunderous dunk - Dribbles are strong enough to start a fast break - Both Alex and Q played tough D all game.
Q - Had about 5 dunks, on the break - Loves to block shots and tries to block every one that is put up - Wing span is ridiculous - Seems to have a decent shot but he was slashing to the rim a lot
I would love to have these guys on the roster.

Exciting report ironlions - when do these guys likely commit? I can see them waiting until at least after the NCAAs are complete and everyone is focused on recruiting. Do you have any rumors on other schools recruiting them? Finally, having seen them play in person, which player do you think would likely win a one-on-one pickup game right now?

According to dedicatedlionsfan it sounds like Osborne is pretty much committed. Not sure about the status of Lawson...maybe we will get some more news next week. Not sure who would win a one on one. Lawson has speed, but Osborne has more strength that he could use in the post.

Thanks to both for replies - so no signings until April 15 - good to know. Welcome Osborne and hopefully welcome Lawson.

Now that my Zags have laid a complete egg against UNC, the first thing I thought about when returning to campus, was damn... LMU is getting some athletes on this team. I charted what we have for the next few years, looked at everyone's high school bio, and I am expecting one or two WCC championships in the next three or four years. They certainly have the talent to do so. It will just be a matter of all these good players coming together as one. Good decision with Sutton I believe. I never viewed him really as D1 material. Osborn on the other hand looks to be much more impressive. I say you get Lawson, potentially redshirt him if he is raw offensively, have him work on his offensive skills, then bring him in the next year. However, our inside depth is very suspect with Diedrichs and maybe Osborne as the only backup back to the basket players... so I could see why the staff would keep Lawson. OOOOO the sound of the name Lawson makes me cringe right now.

Regarding Sutton being replaced, this from the NCAA Rulebook
"Institutional Financial Aid Renewal/Nonrenewal
Aid based in any degree on athletics ability cannot be awarded in excess of one academic year; the decision of whether a student-athlete is awarded institutional financial aid is made on a year-by-year or term-by-term basis, depending on the regulations of the institution. If a student-athlete is receiving institutional financial aid based in any degree on athletics ability, the institution must notify the student-athlete in writing on or before July 1, whether the aid has been renewed or not renewed for the next academic year. This written notification comes from the institution's financial aid authority and not from the athletics department.
If the institution decides not to renew the aid or is going to reduce the aid, the institution must notify the student-athlete in writing that he or she has the right to a hearing. This hearing is held before the institutional agency making the award.
Keep in mind that the decision to renew or not renew the financial aid is left to the discretion of the institution, to be determined with its normal practices for students generally."
