Kamyron Brown has decided to transfer from the University of Oregon. I know we have all our scholarships filled, but perhaps we could stash him away at a Commmunity College and then pick him up next year. I can tell you from first hand experience that he is an excellent player and would be an outstanding addition to our team. His high school team(Mater Dei) was my high school's(Santa Margarita) rival so I saw him many times. Here is a quote from an article from the Daily Emerald: "Brown said he did not contact Drew Viney, a childhood friend of his who transferred to Loyola Marymount after one season with Oregon last year, until after he completed his decision." It is my understanding that Viney originally went to Oregon because Kamyron was there. It make sense than, that Kamyron might want to be reunited with Drew and join the Lions. Here is the rest of the article. media.www.dailyemerald.com/media/storage/paper859/news/2009/05/12/Sports/Brown.To.Transfer.Undecided.On.Destination-3740251.shtml

Interesting but I'm not sure we need another guard in 2010-2011. Would Kamyron be a junior or senior - sound like he has been in college two years already.

It would be awesome to have Kam join the Lions...but right now we just don't have the room. The first openings would be in the 2011 class and we should be targeting Eaton and Nelson. However, it would be great to have a guard like him. Given,Vernon and Larry are more SG's. You could even argue that Jarred is a SG. Too bad Kam didn't come to LMU last year with Drew. The community college option would be interesting.

To me, it sounds very probable that we will have one opening in the 2010 class because Sweezy is an academic senior this year. That is just me guessing though.

For the article to randomly end with the Drew Viney comment is pretty odd. The reporter must have directly asked Brown about it on the conference call. For the reporter to ask the question, he must have heard some rumblings about the contact, especially since the whole breakup between Brown and Ernie Kent took place within the last 48 hours of the article being written. That does not leave a lot of time for Brown to talk with Viney.
Brown played two seasons with the Ducks. With Sweezy gone after next year, he indeed could join the Lions for the 2010-11 season as a junior.

After a search, found this on ESPN insider.
Kamyron Brown | PG Hometown Santa Ana, CA High School Mater Dei High School Position rank Point Guard # 54 Height 6'2" Weight 170 lbs.
Evaluation
I evaluated Kamyron a few years ago and I was thoroughly impressed with his skill level as well as his speed and quickness. He has all the tools to be an outstanding lead guard, however, his decision-making is erratic to say the least. If he stays away from trying to make the spectacular play and smoothens out his jumper, he?ll definitely yield many high-major offers. Despite his deficiencies, Brown is probably the number one point guard prospect out west.
Scouts rating only 80 but seems inconsistent with his evaluation and schools showing interest.
He was shown considering Washington, Kansas, UCLA and USC as well as commiting to Oregon - so he obviously has "high major" potential.

Max is working his magic again. There are some visits happening that should triple our strength under the basket.
