Has anyone taken a look at his numbers so far this year?
18ppg
5rpg
58% from the three point line??!!!!
77% from ft
And over 50% fg percentage.
And hes only a sophomore. Im a huge fan already.
Hopefully he keeps it up vs USC tonight. We are going to need him

The one problem is he will be facing all kinds of lock down defenses as the year goes on. USC was zeroed in on him. However, he's a good passer, so if the doubles close on him and he can't rise up to shoot over it - he'll hit the open guy. His numbers may not be as gaudy as the season goes on - but the life of the other players will get easier....
Keep that in mind as the season progresses. If his numbers go down - are others going up? If so, the big picture has the same end result.
I'm enjoying what he's done so far this year, and looking forward to his progression as a LION.

I think as defenses tighten up he can move into the post more often. He's able to find space for his shot down there. I honestly was expecting his outside shooting from reading the scouting reports on him, but I wasn't expecting him to be so effective in the post.

I was disappointed that we didn't use him more in the post against USC. He had that itsy bitsy guard on him a couple of times, was screaming for the ball - and we went the other way, or shot a three, or some other silly, silly thing. With Viney's versatility - our guards need to recognize when he's got those mismatches. Either some big dufus trying to guard him on the perimeter, or a dwarf on him in the paint. Either way, I would expect him to score it. So - get him the ball, and enjoy the assist.
