On Saturday, October 20, at 10am, Final Shot: The Hank Gathers Story will be televised on TV-One. This film will be a part of TV-One's whole day of "hoops" with basketball themed episodes of "All of Us," "Hangin with Mr. Cooper," "Martin" as well as the movie White Men Can't Jump. Lastly, TV-One’s “Famous People” special spotlighting NBA mom Ann Iverson will also air.
Final Shot: The Hank Gathers Story (1992) At age 23, Eric "Hank" Gathers (played by Victor Love) escaped the inner city to become one of America's top college basketball stars. As leader of Loyola Marymount's team, his career is on the fast track. He's certain to be a top NBA draft choice.
With love and encouragement from his mother, Lucille (played by Nell Carter) and his best friend Bo Kimble (played by Duane Davis), Hank pushes himself higher and higher - then tragedy strikes.
This drama documentary is a must see for all LMU students and alumni. All LMU dorm televisions (not to mention the big screen in Hank's House) should be turned to TV-ONE on Saturday morning for an inspirational and tragic story. Hank memory lives on.
If anyone misses this one, the DVD version of this 1992 drama documentary was released in April of this year. Also, TV-One typically airs this a couple of times during the year.

We talked about this movie earlier when it was released on DVD (Best Buy has them). I trashed the film BUT for a low-budget TV movie it does try and it means well. I think it is great that TV-ONE is airing it. That helps expand LMU's visibility for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
