Hi Lions fans! I'm a Nevada fan and I just figured I'd drop in to share a link from the Reno Gazette-Journal with everyone here: news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071028/SPORTS06/710280357/1053The Wolf Pack and the Lions scrimmaged on Saturday, but it was closed to the media and the public as per NCAA rules. Apparently Coach Fox and Coach Tention are close friends and it looks like both teams were in the Ameer Shamsud-din Sweepstakes for a while! Oh well, can't win 'em all, I guess. Based on what I've seen on here so far it looks like we aren't the only ones who are excited about the upcoming season! Here's hoping the scrimmage was productive for both teams and that they go on to have great seasons -- cheers!

pretty sure i saw our team on saturday afternoon on campus, maybe they just came back from nevada? Anyway, thanks for sharing the article, can't believe we are discussing something as trivial as a pre-season scrimmage. *O*!

Oh you better believe it lmu. Just be glad I spared you all my updates from campus Yoga with the basketball players earlier in the season (key players and for awhile half the baseball team were in my yoga class and yes the instructor was much more brutal on us than it sounds!) . Thanks for the article packbacker . If we find ourselves annually going after the same players as Nevada and keeping up with you guys that'll be a good sign for us.

Good article. Of course it is from some other newspaper focused on another team but I'll take it. Hope we can learn from the tapes too because our season starts quick with UCI who didn't lose many players.

If we find ourselves annually going after the same players as Nevada and keeping up with you guys that'll be a good sign for us. Precisely! Didn't LMU go after Brad Tinsley at some point, too? The fact that they both ended up at Pepperdine tells me the WCC is movin' on up. And the sooner that happens, the better --I'm still angry the WAC commish let Big Monday get away from him! That was good for you guys, but bad for us!

Pepperdine hired Tinsley's AAU coach and close friend to land him. I wouldn't be to excited if LMU started pulling such stunts.
Go Lions.

Wow, what just happened? I hope the player will be fine. This must have happened not long after the scrimmage.
Quoted from Yahoo.com:
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A Nevada basketball player was hurt in a fight at a Halloween party, where three people were shot to death.
Tyrone Hanson, a sophomore forward, was at the party early Sunday and was treated and released from a Reno hospital, said Rhonda Lundin, director of media services for the Nevada athletic department.
ADVERTISEMENT Nevada football coach Chris Ault told the Reno Gazette-Journal that some of his players also attended the party, but he did not believe any had been involved in the fight or shooting.
Two 19-year-olds, Samisone Taukitoku and Saili Manu, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a firearm, police said. Bail was set at $500,000 each.
Police Lt. Robert McDonald said a preliminary investigation determined the gunshots were fired after a shoving match over people bumping into each other on the dance floor. Killed were Charles C. Kelly of Truckee, Calif., and Derek Jensen of Reno and Nathan Viljoen of Fallon, Nev.
