The TOs and inexperience are what are killing us at this point. If you change a few big momentum turnovers and equalize the free throws we could have one by 10+ points as could be said for most games this year for us. This is a learning year, we can't just reload like some powerhouse schools. Come WCC time I hope we can compete with every team in the WCC with the right line-up out and mind-set out on the floor.

Deadman,
I agree with that, and i hope you dont think i was saying that as a knock on Shawn. I just want this team to be successful, and i think he has a nack for scoring the ball and i am hoping the pressure of running the point doesnt hamper that.
and lionboy, I think you said it perfectly. we dont have the OJ Mayo's and Kevin Loves of the world, but we do have a group that in the next couple years will grow up and really make some noise. As for now, lets play our butts off and challenge every team we step on the floor against. We will have another nice road test in Long Beach, and then at Boise... enough with the 1 step forward and 2 steps back... lets just continue to improve

Scoop no worries, this is good stuff.
Funny you mention OJ Mayo, the 1 year in College then to the League guy. No one ever mentions his stats except for scores. He has 31 turnovers in 7 games 4.4 a game other top Pac 10 players 5 star, 1 and done athletes avg 4.2 TO's, more than any one of our guys in eight games but yes we do need to cut way down on the turnovers and our guys will be winning these games. The coaches will get it done.
When you are trying to make plays and win I don't have a problem with TO's as long as the effort level is there and HIGH and this game it was so no big woop. Just fix it in the next game and get the W baby, get the W.....
Interesting comparisons though.

Dead3man,
you are right, not all eight turnovers were shawn's fault. I guess I was just frustrated with the loss and the turnover which we've been dealing thus far this season. So when I first learned eight turnovers on a player I was like "OMFG! NOT THIS AGAIN!" Obviously, I should have kept my emotion in check and not type out mindless comments. You have my apology.
Spacing...yes, big issue. I am not sure why our spacing is so poor...it seems like our players were being guarded very tightly in the last few games. (especially in the case of OJ, he just couldn't get an open look)
Long beach State is a team we can beat. Last year they were just lucky with that 48-footer at the buzzer, no more of that this year. This year we are going to win and win well.

The team has more to go but there was a lot of positive coming from the game. Gersten looked great on tv with the new setup, large feisty student crowd, good game day events, and an actually competitive game. Much better than the home games so far. Like the commentators mentioned, we will not be 8th in the WCC. We've got time to tighten the loose screws. Focus on long beach.

Perhaps I should restate my comment about our posts. I don't want to name names but some of the bigs are really aren't doing anything for us. Maybe their not getting touches, but when they have gotten the ball it seems they just heave the ball toward the basket or turn it over. Perhaps when establish a better inside out side game they will have a chance to improve.

A lot of the TOs I saw were just plain sloppy not protecting the ball or throwing it away. It really needs improved. I agree that these are game changers. So far I have not seen an effective inside presence by the lions but should be able to piece one together with our bigs but they are not getting touches. Diedrichs disappears and Deric is effective in picking up fouls . PG woes and ball distribution, we need to find a way to get it to Tim and Marko. I hope these mounting losses do not get our spirits down. We've got a very winnable one down at Long Beach.
