Well, I don't know who will step up to the challenge, but I cannot wait to see the game. Our fans need to get in his face. We need to rattle St. They are not used to playing in an empty gym. Maybe the 3 or 4 Roar voices will echo into Gordon's ear. I can only hope.
Gosh, I wish we could have a great turn out for the game. I assume some scouts will be there to watch Gordon. It will be a pathetic sight if we have less than 1,000 in attendance.
__________________________________ Signature How to increase attendance at LMU Basketball Games 1) Tell someone you know that does not attend games and have them join you; 2) Call the athletic office and ask what they are doing to bring awareness of LMU basketball to the community (let alone its own student population) 3) Donate your tax deductible contribution specifically to LMU Men's Basketball and have it tagged for increased publicity.
LionsPride's answer to most things = attendance

I looked at MSU's record so far. A little spotty but they have played some good teams. I do not know about our attendance but it shouldn't be worse than UCR's 200 so people at last weeks game. Yikes. As for Gordon... 6-foot-4, 230-pound PG... Get em' lions! ;D

... or not!!! Hopefully we can turn things around especially OJ after the half or LMU may pass the LA Clippers as Los Angeles team most cruel to Season ticket holders.

What they need to do is contact all the high schools withing the area and offer free tickets to the high schools athletic program. Yes, you would be giving alot of tickets away(not sure how big the gym is), but revenue through concession stands would go drastically higher. You would essentially be giving seats away that aren't being used to gain some profit. Plus this might make the next star fall in love with the program, or make the next fan a regular.

Even with our full team last year the Bull Dogs gave us a solid beat down. There wasn't many high lights last night except for Brad Sweezy. He had 10 points in 9 mins of play. I hope he gets more PT. He could be a big help to help establish some sort of inside outside game. Poor old Timmy Diedrich got dunked on so hard. Go Lions

Forgot about those LA Kings. The blowout specials continue. Of course MSU really is a good team. There were just clearly more athletic than we were. I know that our guys train hard but they looked quite scrawny compared to those SEC beasts. We noticeably could not muscle out those rebounds and connecting on shots. They were just flat out stronger. Hopefully it was a good learning experience for the team to play against a team like that. It looked a little painful to watch us being manhandled on the hardwood. Bright spots, I thought attendance was good overall (a lot of MSU fans helped pad that number). 1005, just made it . Brad Sweezy had his coming out game. A great recruit has been quiet this year getting into D1 hoops. He showed a lot of will in the game as did JZ. We just really need more energy when playing these big teams.

NewLionFan: I LOVE the idea. I mentioned this on the below on my May 24, 2007. I have been beating the drum on this issue on these boards for a while. There is a myraid of way to increase attendance. We could even give free ticket vouchers away to the Westchester couples that attend mass on Sunday at Sacred Heart Chapel. I URGE you to call the LMU Athletics department and ask them what they are doing to increase awareness of LMU Basketball. We need to unite to make a difference so LMU Athletic responses. There are many more posts than the below one that I have PLEADED increased publicity with ideas to address the issues. I think the program needs to publicize the games better with the students. One far fetched idea would be to serve beer at games, but that will never happen for legal reasons. We need to bring the frats to the game as they are constantly drawing attendance away because of their events/parties being schedule at similar times as the Saturday night games. Also, we should have other alumni events in November/December/January/February that could lead into the Men's Basketball Game. What about giving out complimentary tickets to the Westchester community to bring them back to Gersten (or introduce them for the first time). Once they go to a game and find out how enjoyable college basketball is in person and how truly inexpensive season seats are, we have them hooked. All the athletic office/ticket office would have to do is go to a neighborhood elementary, middle, or high school basketball game and give out 4 comp ticket vouchers to parents who are watching their kid play hoops. You know they enjoy the game and now you have provided them an avenue to spend family time at a college game. You automatically grabbed your target market. Get the community hooked. We need to reach out to the community. Leverage Jenkins and bring in Westchester. The time is now. Sure we will have a young team, but it should be exciting. We need to fill the seats. Even if you give away a 1000 comp ticket vouchers a game, not all will attend but those that will attend may purchase beverages or popcorn/candy (making money you would never had made). Also, it just may happen they will enjoy the experience and come back. It not only makes sense economically, but also just from additional crowd support. We hit Westchester school and establish a relationship with their school basketball programs and move down to the marina and south bay. Market it. I am sick of hearing that LMU is the best known secret in LA. GO LIONS!

I remember getting free tickets to clippers game and didn't bother to go. Why not? Because it's the clippers and because it's free so it has to be bad. This approach makes a basketball program look deperate and low. Definitely not a long-term solution. I think we can come up with a compromise, we can reserve 300 free tickets for our communities, first come first serve basis, this will create some urgency in fan attendance. Ultimately though, with our team being consistantly blown out by opponents, I am not sure I want to invite guests to watch us being manhandled. What they need to do is contact all the high schools withing the area and offer free tickets to the high schools athletic program. lmu...you used the correct word "Manhandled" We have been thrashed by our opponents in Hanks House. Very sad, but true. I understand your point about desparate, but why hide it ...WE ARE! We keep getting run right into the ground. Even the M. State's equivalent of the water boy made it into the game. THE ONLY ENTERTAINMENT last night was the guy who participated in the Island's Restaurant challenge (hit a lay up, free throw, three pointer, and half court shot)......the guy won all you can eat burgers at Islands for one year. He went 1 for 1 with the lay up...1 for 2 for the free throw, 1 for 1 for the three pointer, and 1 for 2 for the half court shot. I remember it vividly... Cheers to the winning contestant. Tention should consider giving that guy a jersey.... 50% from half court is not bad... I keep the faith....see ya on Saturday versus Wagner Go LIONS!

That guy that won the Islands thing was a total dork. I think he was shooting with a girls ball.

Hatch took care of that contest with ease. Islands hamburgers for a year is sweet. hotboys don't hate because he smoked it. Why are there no halftime shows this season. Providing more entertainment groups will bring fans and friends of those acts too.
