Matt Carlino is leaving BYU. He has graduated and still has a year of eligibility. I have no idea what his plans are. He can play for another school without sitting since he has already graduated (or maybe will have graduated by this Spring).
I was not a Carlino fan at BYU. I think he hurt the team more than he helped it. But the guy can score and he can make things happen. BYU had some strong players this past year and they were huge underperformers. Carlino isn't a very good point guard but he can sure make things happen. I think he could lend some real excitement to our line-up next year. I don't know if Coach Dunlap is having much success finding a PG for next season. I can see Carlino starting in our back court. Face it. We aren't going to challenge for any titles next year. But having Carlino in our line-up would add some excitement and give us a guy other teams would have to figure out how to handle. It would then give Dunlap another year to find a quality point guard whom he could build a team around for the future.
Dunlap may not think much of this idea. Coach Rose had a devil of a time coaching Carlino at BYU, and Coach Dunlap doesn't have the patience to work with "uncoachable" players. I also have absolutely no idea what Carlino thinks his future plans are, but it's kinda fun to speculate.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Having seen many of Carlino's games I usually find that he is the best player for the OTHER team. A "pg" who is a black hole. If he is on he is good, but most of the time he isn't on. ANd when he is not on he is horrific.

No Carlino at LMU. He shoots way too much for a point guard. I would prefer anyone but him.

To transfer within a conference, you must sit out 2 years. Since Carlino is a graduate transfer, it's not possible for him to transfer to LMU.

LMU09, If he graduates this year and he wants to get a graduate degree in a subject from LMU that BYU does not offer, NCAA rules state that he does not have to sit out a year, even if it is inter conference. We had a player do this from Pepperdine a few years back. He was a center.
