I believe Blackwell is a recruit from previous staff- coach Scholl in particular. He was just offered by long beach.

Well I have no inside information, but from the sounds of everything, looks like we won't even field a real starting five next year. Perhaps there will be some open runs at Burns Backcourt to find some guys for the team?
In all seriousness, I am very happy about transitioning to another coach, but it seems like Dunlap is literally scaring everyone away. If he's that much of a disciplinarian, etc, he will be out of basketball in about two seasons. Bobby Knight, Woody Hayes, and people like that would not last in today's generation.
It's odd because Dunlap has a solid resume of working with all kinds of players and based on the relevant talent they had (based on expectations), and how disappointing Good's results were, you would think the guys already on the team would want to stick it out. But apparently not.
Dunlap going internationally for his recruits could be one of two things. He finds guys that major programs dont because they're not looking. Or it could mean finding desperate guys, or guys that don't know enough about USA basketball that they get fooled and harnessed by Dunlap and won't be ready for what's hitting them.
Today's bball generation speak to each other and all have each other's numbers. I wonder if dudes on Denver or Charlotte hit up our guys on the phone and gave them a warning about Dunlap.
Nervous time here in Westchester...

That is an ominous post, slblions08.
I remember there was an article (I think from The Loyolan) following the Dunlap press conference in which Payne talked about accountability, and he knew that he/the team would not be able to get away with the things they did with the previous staff.
I read that as a great sign that the returning players welcomed a coaching staff that was more disciplined.
Let's hope everyone sticks it out. I still faith. Go Lions!

slblions--- pretty pessimistic view there. THe staff has players signed that has not been announced yet. We will have a QUALITY team of more then "a starting 5".
People missing meetings, etc, and being disciplined for that is not bad at all imo. You need accountability if you are going to be successful. The previous staff was lacking this.

slb - lets give Dunlap a chance to show what he can do. Your speculations seem based on information none of us yet have. I have a feeling next season's team will be much better than last season's squad and am with Fryer4three regarding recruits. Any frustration I have had was due to lack of news but I like what I'm hearing unofficially on this board.
Regarding the future recruits, here is some info for those not on ESPN Insider:
Noah Blackwell – how can one player be so smooth and lightning quick at the same time? Wow – I like this young man.
Jordan Dallas 6-9, 200 | Class of 2015
• Hometown: Long Beach, Calif. • School: Long Beach Polytechnic High School • Position: Power Forward • Status: Undeclared
Scout Grade 75 = 3-star Ranked #38 at position, #26 regional and #19 state
Scouting Report
ESPN Analyst Updated 02/10/2014
Strengths: Dallas is a lengthy lefty who plays with more of an edge now in the paint area and his footwork and fundamentals have improved immensely. He has a frame that should fill out nicely due to his length (long arms), improved foot work (playing more on balance), and soft touch in the paint area. He is a smooth runner in transition and he is fairly quick off the floor as well. He has a nice baby hook in the lane and his face-up elbow jump shot is solid. Defensively, he has the length and timing to be a potent shot blocker.
Weaknesses: Dallas needs to continue to get stronger and more assertive while battling in the paint. In addition, he needs to continue to work on his foot work and fundamentals (keeping the ball high) while operating in the paint.
Bottom Line: Dallas is arguably the most improved big man in Southern California for his class in Southern California.
The following note from Joel Francisco of ESPN is about his play in MaxPreps Holiday Classic in Palm Springs in January where he suited up with Elijah Stewart and Devin Watson:
“Most Improved
Jordan Dallas (Long Beach, Calif./Poly) 2015, C, 6-9, 200 Status: Pac-12, WCC, and Mountain West are showing interest Dallas is arguably the most improved big man in Southern California for his class. The lengthy lefty plays with more of an edge now in the paint area and his footwork and fundamentals have improved immensely.”
Ethan Thompson – impressive that a sophomore has a highlights video already with attention from scouts. Seems to have all the moves and shots but he doesn’t have much competition in the videos.

Noah Blackwell committed to Long Beach State last night. A very nice get for the Beach...he had a excellent summer and had some Pac 12 offers.
