Mid-Major Top 25 (as of Nov 11) Today’s poll has three WCC teams in the top 25: Gonzaga #2 BYU #4 Saint Mary’s # 10 USF and Portland also received votes but are not in the top 25. Other “local” teams include UC Irvine ranked #15 and UCSB with votes. In contrast, the Ivy League has Harvard at #3 and Yale at #25 – they don’t hold a candle to the WCC! One of our opponents this season Wichita State is rated #1. www.collegeinsider.com/mens-mid-major-top-25.php

As far as around the nation..
Lots of love for Wichita State, but how are they going to compensate the loss of Cleanthony early? He was the real deal. They have a very good college back court that's going to run circles on us, and murder us if Evan is learning a lesson on the sidelines.
Harvard is an exciting, athletic team to watch. If they could combine that play with the typical Ivy league precision, they can be as good as they were last year and a Top 25 team throughout the season. They lost a close one to Michigan State in the tourney.
Interesting to see Northern Iowa as the #4 as we played them last year. They never really had a good season, but I guess this year people predict better things.
As usual MAC teams will rise
Whats up with Long Beach State not even ranked? Is Dan Munson's magic wearing out? Or more precisely his strategy of scheduling all the best teams to prepare for the season? Perhaps his guys are not learning how to win only to lose. UC Irvine should be solid with their NBA prospect center.
As for the WCC
I think Gonzaga is a legit threat for the Final Four. I think they are better than the Shockers, but I think Gregg Marshal is a better Xs and Os guy so we'll see by the end of the year. I really do hope Gonzaga finally breaks through, however. And its always good for the conference. With all the buzz around Tyler Hawes, if Collinsworth comes back and BYU hangs a couple good non-conference wins, both should be in the Tourney. St. Mary's has some buzz because of their transfers. I forgot that St. Mary's beat Utah in last year's NIT and Utah is getting some quiet buzz as a team that could make a run towards the top of the Pac -12.

Monson just signed a five year extension at LBSU. Scholl got a commitment from Noah Blackwell who has offers from a lot of Pac 12 schools. They will also of course have Gabe Levin coming in. Monson's method seems to be play a brutal non-conference schedule and get the team ready for Big West play.
