The Loyolan featured Dunlap rambling about "accountability". We was also muttering about it during his pitiful press conference following Santa Clara's slaughter of the Lions last week. Does anyone have a clue into what context he is using the word? Sounds like he's using it to focus "blame" on the players (and away from him).

Man I could have SWORN I posted this already, but here is the link from the Loyolan, hmmm www.laloyolan.com/sports/coach-dunlap-reacts-to-loss-of-payne/article_31c4c48b-c483-54e1-8e23-3e24a0f7efae.htmlBasically Dunlap rips Evan on the way out for not playing defense and "agreeing to disagree" about how to play the game of basketball. Gee I wonder why Evan wasn't always 100% selling out on defense. maybe it was because he was carrying the offensive burden on a bum knee the whole year? Good grief. Just say "thank you for your services. He was a great player who has chosen to go somewhere else to further his education and basketball needs." THE END. Instead you're a near 60 year old man who wants to get the last word on a 20 year old kid who is being recruited by 5 NCAA tourney teams. Not to mention he also implies Chase, Godwin, Egbeyemi, Mornar and Siame in his critique. And again, this "accountability" thing that husky mentions. Problem is, with nobody in charge, he will never be held accountable so it falls on deaf ears. I sure hope Dunlap is mad genius. The people saying that he is either boom or bust, with no in between are dead on. If anything, he has riled up whatever fan base exists. I'm not sure if that is his goal but it sure is happening. It will be interesting to see if the new University president comes in will tell him to shut up or endear himself to the students, the fans and his audience. I think I'm done with my ranting on Dunlap. Literally too much to talk about that it's exhausting. I think we all see it now. For now, the discussion should be how as a University can we move the program forward and how can we recruit kids to come to LMU? Boosters, open up your wallets!!!

The SCU Board has some interesting comments on transfers and the other talent leaving the WCC next season. scufanscom.yuku.com/topic/3364/Next-Season-A-lot-of-talent-head-out#.VR3yp0YyAosCommenting in particular on USF, one poster says: “I don't see how USF fans continue to write off transfers as "part of college basketball these days" (not a direct quote, just the feeling i get from their board). There's a difference between disgruntled players on the end of the bench leaving for more PT and impact player/leader/seniors leaving the program. USF has had both.... Doolin, Blackwell, Tollefson, Michael Williams were all real contributors, complimenting a rash of reserves who have scattered from that program over the last half decade. Smoke comes from a fire. “ Tollefson is looking to play his 4th year elsewhere and is eligible immediately as he graduated.

I was impressed that Evan took the high road. Nothing negative other than saying the transition was difficult. Interesting contrast to CMD's approach. Who's setting the example?
Evan listed a passel of schools and then added "among others." There probably aren't more than a handful of coaches who would pass on Evan.
I too am distressed by the outflow of talent across the WCC AND the dearth of quality incoming talent the last two years. Making matters worse, based on what I've seen on the recruiting sites, this next year doesn't hold much more promise unless you're in Spokane or Provo.

I'm a bit surprised by that move.
It's good for us in that it will be easy to track his performance. I certainly wish him all the best.

Was definitely expecting more of a "high major" for Evan. He must really not have liked it here to be transferring, sit out a year, and then play at a school that basketball standard wise isnt much of an upgrade over LMU. He will be reunited with Gabe and coach Scholll. They might make a few waves over the next couple years though. Will track his progress.
