I talked before the game about the need to get the Cougars out of their game so they would make poor passes and lousy decisions. Ironic that that is exactly what happened to the Lions. Even with BYU's early second half onslaught, the Lions were in the lead late in the game and had a chance to win it before they fell apart. Lessons learned? I hope so.

Well Dunlap never adjusted tempo he kept calling for an increase in tempo when it was clear there needed to be a shift. Dunlap wants to win the game with his team dictating the story. However BYU is simply better at it then us. They have more skilled players.

Calls went both ways. There was a no call on an obvious Humphries travel that looked like it might be a critical miss by the refs. Of course, our poor play in the last few minutes of the game made that no call a moot issue. BYU plays aggressive but I don't have a problem with that. If you want to play DI ball, you need to recognize that BB at the higher levels is tough. Shoot, I've played in city and church leagues that are aggressive. Some of our guys get it (Jacko and Johnson for example). Others don't. Last night Spiers, Hermann,Haney and Mornar were out-toughed pretty consistently. I don't think the Cougars played dirty and I do think the refs let the guys play, which I prefer over games where refs seem to competing to see who can blow their whistle the most. If I were CMD, I'd splice together a film of collinsworth's many strong, aggressive plays, show it to the team and tell them that is how they need to play for 40 minutes every game. I totally agree. I don't think we won many 50 50 balls if any. They seemed to want it more from the perspective of just chasing down offensive boards, beating our guys to the ball. I'm a big fan of the improvement though. I think someone else mentioned this but for about a 5 minute stretch it was some of, if not the best, LMU basketball I've ever seen (fan since 05). Let's run san diego out of the gym sat.

What is the theory of Herman being lost in the court? Did he he abused on the court or something?

It wasn't really a case of him being abused. It was more of a case of him just standing there when he should've been using his size to assert himself.

Anyone think a little playing time for McClendon might have helped? I like his toughness and he rebounds pretty well.

What is the theory of Herman being lost in the court? Did he he abused on the court or something? Let's be honest . Herman is a guard trapped in a big man's body. He's basically 22 years old and scared of the paint. Unfortunately his injury must have robbed him of his game which I'm assuming was a stretch four. Instead he's slow and gets worked inside. I just don't see how Dunlap predicted such heights from him. He's not even as good as a Chris Ayer or Dustin Brown.

To me I speculate one of three things: 1) Hesitant from his past ACL injury 2) Used to play with more assertiveness but is intimidated playing in a new country and D1 3) He's always played like this

For Coach Dunlap to say he is NBA ready, I assume he knew or saw something there. Unless he was blowing hot air an hyping the class.

I thought Dunlap said that he was physically NBA ready, as far as his body and athleticism, which I agree with. Going against jacko and Johnson everyday for another year should help toughen him up.
