I know we are going to be extremely young, but what are you guys expecting from this team full of underclassmen?

Not sure if I want to write this down because I'll probably be eating these words next fall but I do have high spirits for this upcoming team. We are going to struggle. lmulions.com has just updated the roster list for the new season and check out the number of times you see FR-HS, and RS-FR-HS. It's hard to miss. This will be an incredibly young team headed by a lone senior who did not get a lot of start time last season. I think those struggles will be early on and certainly against the tough teams like SDSU and MSU. But come conference time I think we'll be gelled and ready to go. This is RT's time to shine with a roster filled with his recruits. We've got talented players and even a nice amount of local guys. It should be sort of a reverse from last season. Our OOC record will be dismal and we'll do very well in conference. To put things in some perspective last season---
13-18 (Final) 8-8 (OOC) 5-9 (WCC) 6th

I think we are going to have a softer team than last year. Worthy, Damian and Knight were pretty physical players, I don't know if the new team will match the old team in terms of physicality.
I think our new players have the confidence needed to succeed, whether they have the experience to succeed that's another question. My mood now is that I am cautiously optimistic. I really like our incoming class and if they mature fast enough, we can be a dangerous team come the conference play.

I think everyone is going to be suprised. The question is who steps up through there play and becomes the leader, the go to guy. Ziri will be the leader Captain because he's been in the program for now 5 years but what player will step it up and put his team on his back to get a win.
I know one but I will wait to say until after summer workouts.

It will be really interesting to see what kind of identity this team takes on. With no guarantees night in and night out this team needs to do all the little things well. Hopefully the toughness will be there because this team is going to need to get after people defensively and scrap through games. I do agree that hopefully the team will be coming into its own by the time the conference season hits. Lets keep our fingers crossed and see what these young kids can do. Though inconsistent, next year should have some great glimpses into what the LMU Basketball future will look like. Hopefully without the catastrophe's of this past year we can sit back and enjoy the ride.

I think I will make my prediction after I get to see the incoming class play in the summer. It will also be nice to see the progress of Sweezy, Sutton, and Deadwiler. Go Lions!

It should be a young and exciting team. A team "true basketball fans" would want to see development and grow together. I have big expectations of this incoming class (but not in their first year). I am trying to be realistic that we are going to be a team with some major highs and lows. Non-conference will be the key. If the team gels early and gains confidence, we may exceed expectations for conference. However, if non-conference goes south and we we don't play as a "team" we could be looking at a horrible record. The fans need to come to Hank's House to support the young team. We need people in the seats (especially students...no excuse for the student section not to be filled. The students need to support the program.).
I think this is a big year for Rodney. Much is on the line for him. These are ALL his players. No excuses. If we finish dead last in conference I will be very disappointed. No matter how young your team is, there is no excuse to finish last in conference. A coach needs to guide, mentor, and motivate his players. If Rodney does the aforementioned and the incoming talent that is on "paper" comes to play every night, we could surprise some teams in the WCC. We could finish 3rd or 4th. Otherwise, I see a 7th place WCC finish.
Go Lions!

I agree that this year will be pretty telling for the future. I could see this team sneaking up on people in conference and finishing as high as 4th, but with that many young guys i could also see that being 6th just as easily. I just hope they play hard and get better at every phase. I will be interested to give them grades at the end of the pre season, the end of the first round of league and then how they look after the conference (or NCAA ) Tournament. I'm more interested in how this team will play than their overall record. I think that will be more telling for the future. But then again I'm the guy who started the poll so go figure.

I agree if we get beat up too bad early on that will not help us come together for conference. The lack of confidence killed us last mid-season.

Won't be dead last but it's hard having that many young players. Really could be bad or could be shockingly decent. Hope things look good over summer scrimmages.

Just saw the LMU-GU game and I really think a Counts/Ziri duo could do big things next season. Very impressed with Counts and I think he's going to come back hungry. Ziri was injured and not all together this past season but if he stays healthy watch out.
