A friend of mine was talking to him at the gym and apparently he will be playing pro ball in Australia next season. We will miss his gritty toughness and hard nosed D. A excellent PG from day one. I will try and keep up with his carrier. I guess we need a PG big time now. Go Lions!

Very shocking ! Ziri will be the only senior next year . Best of luck to Damo in the future he will be getting his degree in a week.

That is why I was hoping we could get pmac from gonzaga for next year. I didn't want to be the one to break the news on ehre, but Damo is leaving. We need a good pg leader for next year to groom our younger guys.

He's a great kid with a lot of heart. A big loss for us.

My "revised" projection for starting five:
C: Marko Deric PF: Terron Sutton SF: Brad Sweezy (why not? Someone mentioned he was a 3 star recruit) SG: Jon Ziri PG: Corey Count
Dude, how are we going to beat any team with this lineup?

We will have a young team for sure and take out lumps...Jenkins & Johnson will should be in the starting 5 from day one. Ziri left a lot to be desired after this past season. I have a feeling he will pick it up for his final year...but if he doesn't we might have 3 freshman in the starting 5. Deadwiler is the biggest question mark.
Go Lions.

Yes, Damo's old Aussie coach got a pro coaching job and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Can't blame him, he's graduating on time.
Don't panic though, there's PG help on the way. Can't be more specific.

My Projections:
C: Marko Deric PF: Terron Sutton SF: Incoming Fresman (why not? Someone mentioned he was a 3 star recruit) SG: Jon Ziri PG: Shawn Deadwiler (Natural Position)
Whatever we pick up this will be the starting Line UP in my view. Don't look at last year look towards the future. Deadwiler was injured the entire year and should have redshirted due to Knee Surgery in October but fought hard with little mobility in the knee, no lift on his shot or going in the lane. T. Sutton had a great year learning as a Red Shirt. Marko will be even better and Mason will be the 6th Man of the WCC.
Sweezy, not sure about 2 knee surgerys in one year.

I think Marko will be the leader of the pack next year with JZ's 5 years in the system. These young guys will learn what it takes to be a team from JZ and Marko will make 1st team WCC next year, my early vote.
Youngsters will have to take this year and analyze over the summer and improve there skills in individuals with coaches in the fall. The coaches will get it done. The incoming freshman will have a chance to make an impact but unless he's a 5 Star coming in, I look for them to work behind what we have already and take over in 2008.
I think LMU will overtake ZAG's in two years but compete next year and finish in the top 3 of the WCC.
I like the group thats coming in and whats there, we have a 7 Footer, Plus (3) 6'9 guys. Guards are going to be good the question is who runs the point and does the Lions move to more of a transistion game. If so, lots of points and a lot of running. It will be exciting. Can we say Ala Steve Nash.... Who's that guy that steps IN!!!!!

I really wish I could believe that, but from what I see and heard the Zags could possibly be the strongest they have ever been in these next few years. I think we have a long way to go before we overtake the Zags. Lets just focus on this year and hope our young guys can grow into go-to players and leaders.

aacoach, I think you need to look at what other schools are doing. It's not like they are just going to stand there and watch us overtake them.

So far it is like LMU is keeping pace with the WCC. Once we step up recruiting I can see us hanging at the top of the conference. The zags don't look to be in any trouble anytime soon but that doesn't mean an LMU or USD can upset them in the tourney.
NEXT YEAR, well that's way open. A lot of teams looks promising and scary at the same time. A lot of young players and coaches will make it a rollercoaster for everyone I thinks.
