Anyone else a bit worried about the lack of news in the 2022 recruiting class? I have been actively checking but can't find anything.

I did see a 2023 5-⭐️ recruit Jared McCain! I know 5-stars are huge reaches for us, but at least we are reaching! Plus I think in-season recruiting is always hard when your focused on coaching the current players you have

Coach Stan definitely prefers older players. My guess is he will focus on the transfer portal. Especially given the HUGE need we have for a big man. Freshmen bigs are seldom major contributors. Yes, I know Chet Holmgren is doing great at Gonzaga, but those guys are rare.
The same goes for PGs. It’s the toughest position to learn. Few freshmen can move into a starting PG position and be successful. And by Season 3, Coach Stan needs to be showing some success.

I think recruits are taking a wait and see approach to how we perform and if they see improvement and/or if they fit into their style of play. It's tough as a HS senior to decide on a school when the current freshman don't get much playing time either. We'll probably fill the holes through the transfer portal and get 1-2 freshman to develop. Ultimately winning games will help the recruiting situation

any confirmation or news as to why? saw this on verbal commits that Gary Harris will be transferring. I get that a lack of playing time is the likely reason but he didn't even last a full season and LA is his hometown. www.verbalcommits.com/schools/loyola-marymount

Not completely shocked, the Bellarmine ESPN + announcers mentioned at the beginning of the game that Harris would not be playing in that game, and that it was “coach’s decision”. They may have had a falling out while on the road trip in the three days between the game in Reno and the game in Kentucky.
Good luck to Harris.

Too many 6-3-6-6 guys on the roster
Does this mean Mayoum x 2 exists for the future ?

I would love to see Mayoum out there at some point, if I’m not mistaken here the list of Australians that have played for us in the last 20 years, pretty impressive group!
Matthew Knight Damian Martin David Humphries Joshua Spiers Keli Leaupepe
Three extremely good players, and Humphries was solid. Spiers left pretty early.

I know nothing but I suspect Harris didn't fit in. Not a big loss in my opinion.

In the St. Mary’s post everyone’s lamenting our possible 2-7 record… Not only that, but do we have anyone committed for next season?
It’s one thing to have a bad record and have young players playing and contributing, it’s another thing to have a bad record but have a stockpile of talent waiting on the doorstep, but best I can tell we have a bad record and we don’t have anyone new committed for next season, is that correct?

Lots of 2* offers but no commits. I’m guessing Coach Stan plans to hit the transfer portal. It’s a strategy that is rapidly gaining popularity with both coaches and players.

I can think we all really appreciated the big hopes of Stan when he arrived. Unlike many past coaches, he was shooting for the moon and recognized that this is a premier university experience in LA. But I think he really underestimated the difficulty of winning in the conference. I think I he thought his smile and positive attitude was going to just draw winning to the program and that ain’t it.
If he’s banking on the transfer protocol and giving up recruiting, he and Pintens better have those NIL checks lined up. He needs at least 3 big men above 6-8, 2-3 shooters capable of defending enough to play considerable minutes on the floor, and a point guard.
I think we either might see an exodus or Stan just kicking everyone off the team in anger. Had he tried to slowly develop this year, he’d be ok but if he’s completely rebuilding in year 3, yikes.
I think he deserves the same 5 years that Dunlap, Good or Aggers received. But he’s running out of time already with the program going in the opposite direction.

I like the system used in the pros - the worse your record, the higher your draft picks!

Season ticket holder here and this year has been a huge, huge disappointment. On paper, this was the best team we've had in years and we've legit regressed across the board. We turn the ball over at an alarming rate because we have no one on the roster capable of being the primary ball handler. I thought Cam was the answer, but calling him inconsistent would be an understatement. JQ is our only consistent shooter and the turnover situation is outta control. As much as I want to believe Stan in the man for this job, Im starting to wonder how long he lasts if we continue to trend in this direction. Seems like an extension of the Dunlap years without much hope in sight. I hope Im wrong, but its not looking good.

Stan is going to have trouble recruiting locally since he doesn’t play the local freshmen and the team bombed expectations, plus a local kid transferred in and transferred out in months.
We went from “Stan is going to recruit LA” to “I hope Stan finds a desperate transfer that’s so good he’ll make a big impact right away, but for some reason the kids lands at a last place WCC team.”
Recruiting someone will be through whatever contacts he has. Someone has to deliver him a couple big men and some shooters out of thin air.
