Yes, looks like the kind of big that coach has been talking about and could play well in our conference and our system. I like that he blocks shots too, that was something we were sorely lacking last year on the inside.

Three down, two more recruits to go Athletic 4 in hand plus two new guards Now we still need a “big”

Keli works hard and his strength can push opposing bigs away from the basket. However, he is still limited vertically on defense, both in height and jumping, so he doesn’t give us a lot of rim protection. Keli is ok at C if he alongside a mobile shot blocking PF. Or you can turn Keli into like a stretch 4 and put a truly big man at C . The only issue is that when Keli has to defend on the perimeter he gets into foul trouble.
We definitely need two more bigs, I think a starting caliber big and a back up center. I mean Markussen may have been “plodding” but it was painfully obvious how much he was missed. Maybe CSJ can find a center that’s 6-10 and quicker up and down the floor that you can teach how to catch and dunk and set screens.
Honestly I think our biggest issues defensively have been collapsing on defense and leaving open 3 point shooters. If you have a bit more size down low, you can buffer that a bit.

Good points. I agree we need a mobile big (6'9+) with length. And yes, two bigs certainly wouldn't hurt, but I think if we got the right guy, a fairly muscular but still quick true point guard would help a lot. Cam is definitely decent but he has a slight build which limits his ability to drive and get fouled. His lack of size results in match up problems on D. Not looking to replace Cam but would be nice to have a complimentary PG for depth and match up reasons. I don't see Jalin as a true point guard. He dribbles high and seems better on the wing where he can slash and play his mid-range game.

The last few comments bring up a few points for me.
1. I know Coach Stan wants an up tempo team and plodding centers don’t meet his criteria. BUT if you want to have a winning DI team, you have to present a front court that exceeds 6’7” - 6’8”. Way too many times last season other teams were simply playing over our guys’ heads, and there wasn’t much they could do about it. In my opinion, Coach Stan still has a lot of holes to fill, but he HAS to make a couple bigs a priority.
2. I think the team is better with Jalin running the point over Cam. Jalin has weaknesses, but he tries to make things happen. 95% of the time, all Cam does is dribble across half court and pass. He seldom creates lanes for his teammates and his successful drives to the basket are few and far between. For a guard, Cam is a poor shooter. Jalin takes some ill-advised shots and his percentages aren’t much higher than Cam’s, but I’d rather have him shooting over Cam.
3. Leaving corner 3s wide open has been a problem for a long time. CMD’s teams weren’t any better. I understand being aggressive but consistently leaving known shooters wide open game after game simply is not a winning approach. The problem last year’s team had was that Cam had very little lateral quickness. Opposing guards had no problem getting past him. Then, because we had no interior presence, the forwards and wings had to vacate their outside defensive positions to strengthen the interior. Other teams knew that would happen. They simply penetrated then looked to dish. A very easy game plan to figure out and execute. If Coach is going to stay with Cam, he’d better find some interior defense with his remaining scholarships.
4. None of us can know how good the new guys are until we see them in the court. Until then, all we can do is speculate. Personally the 3 new guys all look like bench players to me. If I’m wrong, I’ll be gleeful to say I was wrong.

Dusty Stromer is legit. There's actually a really cool youtube series on him on the In The Lab channel. Also featured on that channel heavily is Barrington Hargress, who we've apparently offered

Ahrens would be huge for us. Would be another knockdown shooter from a big conference
