If LMU makes the investment in facilities, athletes, etc- IMHO there's a real opportunity to be a non-football member of a reconstituted Pac-12 if desired. TV needs a school in LA, and LMU is the only logical choice.

I don”t think joining the pac12 should be on the radar because the pac12 will not exist in two years, their media deal expires after this year, and they are no close to getting a deal that comes close to the big 12s recent deal, and adding a school like SDSU will not save it. Once the media deal collapses the Az and maybe Utah and Colorado will head to the big 12, Oregon and washington will most likely head to the big 10, and some big conference will probably take cal and Stanford. That leaves WSU and Oregon St left scrambling and joining some small football conference like the WAC or some combination of the WAC and Mountain West.

Pac-12 is going to return to the 10 team model without the LA schools.
As far as what SHOULD happen? As we drift closer to major conferences or, eventually, conferenceless college basketball, it'd make some sense to create a non-football partnership with the two conferences.

It's disappointing to see college sports evolving in this manner. I preferred true amateur athletes. A small question: I presume NIL money to athletes is taxable? If so, are tuition, room, board and fees included in their income? The cost of a year in college can easily be $50-70K these days.
