I am surprised San Diego is behind Pepperdine given the influx of talent on their roster, that being said, us projected to finish 9th is more of a testament to the strength of the conference than the weakness of our team, we will be much better than the typical 9th ranked WCC team we have seen in the past.

No argument from me Our new guys remain a mystery and our 7-footer is unproven as well

Rothstein was with the team the other day. Guess he wasn’t impressed. I agree with 90045. I’m not sure I remember a team with so many questions- especially a team that has three probably known starters at the 1, 3 and 4 spots.

Kenpom has come out with their preseason rankings - below is their WCC rank with the national ranking in parentheses:
1. Gonzaga (3) 2. BYU (44) 3. St. Marys (47) 4. San Francisco (101) 5. Santa Clara (111) 6. Portland (121) 7. San Diego (139) 8. LMU (142) 9. Pepperdine (193) 10. Pacific (251)
Not too often the WCC has 8 teams in the top 150 - wouldn't be surprised to see Portland join the big 3 in the top 75 this season, their coach is incredible.

I’m still excited for the season even though we’re not picked high. 2020 COVID season was weird and gone. Last year disappointment I think was forcing the old guys to mesh with the new system. Who knows, Stan may suck but I’m looking forward to a new look.

Yes, incredibly insightful.
I missed that Jawara had transferred to USD. Interesting.
So we couldn’t stop people defensively at the rim, gave up the most open 3 pointers, and on offense we had open 3s but couldn’t hit…yep, that was last year in a nutshell.
I am with the author, wipe the year and move on.
