"Tonight I committed to Loyola Marymount," Shamsud-din said on Friday night. "It's a place that I think will benefit me the most. Basketball-wise, I can go in and be a factor at point guard, and education-wise, it will be good for me too."

Talk about it in Basketball Recruiting Board The game of recruiting moves at a very quick pace, and Ameer Shamsud-din saw that first hand this past week. The all-around 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard from Benson Tech High School in Portland had originally planned on taking three official visits, and made his first trip just a couple of weekends ago. He was looking at taking his other two trips in the upcoming weeks but on Friday night he decided to go ahead and make the call on his college future.
Ameer Shamsud-din is heading to SoCal "Tonight I committed to Loyola Marymount," Shamsud-din said on Friday night. "It's a place that I think will benefit me the most. Basketball-wise, I can go in and be a factor at point guard, and education-wise, it will be good for me too."
Before deciding to commit to LMU, Shamsud-din had been looking at taking visits to his other two leaders, Oregon State and Nevada. But after Oregon State took a guard commitment from Detroit and Nevada landed Mark McLaughlin out of Washington, things became clear to Shamsud-din about his future. But it's not as if he chose the Lions by default. His visit there the weekend of September 21-23 went extremely smoothly and he really likes how they plan on playing while he's down there the next four years.
"They're going to play a lot of up-tempo, which is my game," Shamsud-din said. "They get out and go which is a lot of fun. This season, I'm going to work on that as well as get stronger to get ready for college."
While his recruitment wasn't quite the roller coaster ride that his fellow classmates in state have experienced, Shamsud-din did experience quite a bit with the process. To that end, he's happy about the choice he made and he plans on celebrating.
"It's finally over with," Shamsud-din said. "Now I can just chill."
Shamsud-din is the eighth member of the state's talented Class of 2008 to make a decision. OregonPreps.com would like to congratulate Shamsud-din and his family on his commitment.
Looks like while we didn't strike as early as some of the other schools in the leauge we still got our guy. Now if we can land Wendell we look to have landed another class to be excited about

Excellent. Thank you. Now add in Wright we would definitely be on the right recruiting track.

If we can get a committment from Wendell Wright that should quiet those people who have questioned our recruiting. although it is just a 2 man class i think that class more than keeps up with the rest of the league. I have a good feeling. We might not have struck as quick as others, but that would be a hell of a class

I think that is funny to hear some of these wcc "experts" on other boards placing us at #8 in the polls. They don't realize that Tention has built up a roster of very talented players. It'll keep getting stronger.

What is the source of that first listing there. If Wright is better than Elmore(Boston College), Wiley(Oregon), Story(USC), and Taylor(Texas), he is going to be one hell of a college player. That's putting him in elite, elite level company.

Unfortunately I guess this is the reason to keep the champagne corked until the ink dries on those LOIs!
