ESPN has the Lions as 3 point favorites tomorrow! Nice. Now we have to avoid laying an egg.

It’s now at -1.5…maybe a game similar to BYU but this USF team I would assume is a little more disciplined

Dons are now 0-3 in WCC play and will be hungry. It will be a close game. The good-shooting Lions team needs to step up tonite.

As it has been for the last couple of years, if we want to win we need to contain their guards and beat them on the boards. This would be a great win for the Lions, 3-1 start in conference play would be huge.

Alex is a new man, not sure what happened but he has figured it out. Going to need Chance to break out of his funk soon if we want to be the USFs of the conference, Shelton has also been relatively quiet but both have played solid defense. Going to be a fun second half.

Bad start to the 2nd half..but it wouldn’t be an lmu usf game if it wasn’t a back and forth battle

USF is shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three, just not going to win many games when your opponent is shooting that well. Their fouling can keep us in this though.

Free throws…..free…..throws Does anyone else think it’s dumb that when a guy misses a free throw he still leaves the line and gives fives to his teammates. First off why are you going for high fives when you miss but more importantly you just missed a three throw. Stay where you are and make the adjustment from the feedback from the Miss and make the next one. If you leave your spot you can’t make that small adjustment. You’re starting from scratch again!!

I’ll agree that bb players everywhere are way over doing the paddy cakes between FTs. Frankly, after missing a FT, I wanted to be left alone so I could think about why I missed.
Tonight was a good game. Very entertaining. USF is a talented team. They have more than BYU. I can see why they almost beat Gonzaga. I don’t know what happened in some of their other losses. Inconsistent play I guess.
Good Points: 1. The crowd! After years of moribund attendance, we seem to be recapturing sone of the school spirit and fan appreciation. Tonight, the students are still not back for the most part, but there were a few good groups. More importantly, there were quite a few non-student fans. Great to see! We really need that. 2. The game itself. No game will ever be a perfect display of skill sets but tonight did show talent on both teams, a lot of competitive will, and overall solid entertainment for the full two hours. These kinds of games will bring even more fans out. 3. Sheldon had a good game. He played hard and smart. In the first half he had sone excellent moves on both ends of the court. 4. The Dons have size but our bigs held their own. 5. Ahrens hit a couple 3s.
Bad Points: 1. #2 killed us. He had 18 points and our guards simply can’t contain him. Personally, I’ve never been that impressed with Shabazz. He’s a one-man highlight reel but he makes a lot of dumb plays and doesn’t really help his teammates play better. The Dons were stronger after Shabazz picked up that tech and had to sit. 2. Stevens simply isn’t ready for prime time. He wants to shoot but is overwhelmed by the size and quickness of DI ball. Coach needs to either set up some plays and screens to get him some easy rhythm shots, or just not use him. I’d like to see his talent developed but he can’t do it alone. Coach has GOTTA help him! 3. It’s been apparent all season that the team is vulnerable to pressure. They just don’t have the one-on-one talent to overcome the pressure that a team like USF can apply. HOWEVER, they can pay more attention, stop the too-often lazy passes, and WATCH THE PASSING LANES! that killed them tonight. 4. USF is a good team with a lot of talent. It’s hard to overcome that, but one sure fire way is to make FTs when everyone else is just standing there watching you! If we make a couple of those front-end one-on-ones, we win the game! 5. Lewis is playing himself into oblivion. He’s almost completely useless out there.
It was an entertaining evening. The Lions aren’t tournament bound, but this is the best playing team we’ve had in awhile.
