All I’m going to say is. The whole program thought we have arrived without actually achieving anything.
Both times on national TV we’re getting creamed.
I think we’re actually lowering the STANdard

The difference is that they put a ton of length on Cam and are playing D with such intensity last seen since maybe 2019-2021. Plus they can’t miss from deep. Plus Merklivadze a continued to shrink and Issanza is scared silly. The Zags are playing at full tilt and LMU is facing it.

We are the only WCC school other than St. Mary’s or BYU to beat Gonzaga in the last 12 years or whatever.
Mark Few threw down the gauntlet to his team.
We just need to bounce back from this and make sure we beat Pepperdine and Pacific

All I’m going to say is. The whole program thought we have arrived without actually achieving anything. Both times on national TV we’re getting creamed. I think we’re actually lowering the STANdard Huh? Who thought the program arrived?? The team has 2 top 25 wins plus nice wins against potential NCAA squads but I don’t think anyone has called them arrived. It’s all part of the process. If you flipped this result with the other, people would be overjoyed saying we beat them at home after getting destroyed at their place. The truth is, this was probably the biggest hyped game in a decade and they came out flat. They’re not used to it. The thing is you don’t get to play these games unless you win others. You shouldn’t get punished for it. I can tell you don’t work with young people or coach or teach. I do. This same thing happens to my team often. It doesn’t mean a Coach is full of “hot air”. What do you want a coach to say? “Don’t support the team until we go undefeated?” What’s important is how they respond. After beating Gonzaga, they got destroyed by BYU. Then they beat Saint Mary’s after losing again to San Diego. Let’s see how they do the rest of the season and in the WCC tourney. |

All of these things can be true. This is what high expectations feels and they have not risen to the challenge. this team still has a solid shot at finishing 4th and making a decent run at the wcc tourney so try to have some optimism. A shame that this crowd has to watch this but these guys must react in the next 2 games.

Listening to the announcers and it just makes me wonder. You know one reason we might look flat? It’s because the coach has to do too many things he shouldn’t be doing. Stan shouldn’t be running around campus selling the tickets and doing all that before a big game . Sure that’s great, but damn Craig Pintens is very underwhelming. It should be his face or some hired college students doing that with viral campus videos. The Coach should be afforded the opportunity to be locked in.
I think Stan wears too many hats because he has to since other people are asleep at the wheel. Fundraising, content creator, slogan writer, etc. Coach is sometimes a side gig. Look, it’s great that he’s 1000x more accessible than Dunlap and nicer than Max Good, and more reliable than Bayno. But on s week like this, he needed support.
My students told me today that the reason they want to go the UCI is for the random pop up releases of the anteater cartoon sticker thing (look it up). No, not the academics or location but the stickers. And it’s true, those kids line up for hours around campus. For all the thousands we still pay back in tuition, you would think they could figure out a way to build buzz without relying on coach to do it all.

Coach needs to be smart and get Shelton and Leaupepe out of there. No way they should play the last eight minutes. We just have to take our medicine and move on… and be smart about it.
