Santa Clara had a massive season and bowed out after one game. What’s their fan reaction like over there? Are they bringing out pitch forks for Herb Sendek? Or are they content with the NIT? As far as postseason play, do we still have a shot at the CIT? Or will the NIT take SCU and the CIT takes BYU? Are we looking at the CBI and playing Antoine Davis as he passes Pistol Pete for $50K? Bronco fans feel their program is on a strong upswing. Disappointed in losing to USF but hopeful for the future. They likely have a first round NBA draft choice now for the second year in a row. They recognize they have some good pieces in place despite losing Podziemski. They already have a tournament slot next season with Ohio State and a few other high quality programs. They’re on the bubble for the NIT this year. It takes time to build a good program. A few years ago LMU and SCU were looking at similarly moribund programs. Broncos fans were frustrated (sounding a lot like some of our current fans). But SCU has made good headway. Right now, Sendak has the Broncos probably two years ahead of our Lions. This coming off season is HUGE for Coach Stan. Will he continue with his advancement of the program? Or does he have to start over? A few years ago I would’ve said he’s in deep trouble, but the whole transfer portal process has completely changed the recruiting process for college coaches.

Regarding post season chances — as I mentioned in my last post, SCU is on the NIT bubble. It all depends on upsets in the various conference tournaments. BYU is just ahead of the Broncos. Not by much but they do have a better national following. We aren’t going to the NIT. We could get an invite to the CIT, but that would most likely involve sone other programs turning down an invite. At this point, I’d say USF has a better chance.

Disappointed that the Lions did not get win #20 - might make a difference. I agree that the Broncos, Dons and now Cougars are ahead of us in the post season play peking order. But BYU might not take an invite below the NIT and their boycotting Sunday games might conflict with some sponsor's TV scheduling.
