Can’t argue with the poll. The WCC looks like a 3 tier league at this point. Really hard to tell these days with so many portal players. Coach Stan needs to have his guys playing competitively with the Gaels and Zags for him to maintain an upward trajectory.
Pepperdine has 2 pre-season selections but can only eke out a predicted 7th place finish. Gotta love Coach Romer!
Leaupepe should have a good year. He looks like he’s ready for the NFL draft. With 3 bigs in the roster drawing defenses, he should get his way A LOT. Who can stop him going to the hoop?
Can’t wait for the season to begin!!!

It’s hard to put much credence in these narratives. I doubt the writers are getting paid much so I guess it’s unfair to criticize but once you get past the known top teams, the narratives show very little research on the teams and players

Watching San Diego vs Sonoma State (pretty nice having all the games on at least ESPN+). San Diego is currently losing 15-2. They look like an awful team. A bunch of young guys and they got no transfers.
Also, James nobles is on Sonoma state!

USD pulled out the victory, 68-64. Nobles was 2/3 in under a minute of mop-up play.
In other games, SMC and USF won big against weak opponents while Portland beat Long Beach State.

Somehow I had forgotten Nobles had transferred as well.
A shame that none of our "Big 3 LA recruits" worked out at all. They were so highly regarded, but at the same time it isn't like they are lighting it up elsewhere.
Shows that recruiting rankings aren't the end all be all.

I think Coach Johnson learned to be shy about HS recruits, even those with apparently strong credentials. He now looks for experience following former Ram's coach George Allen's "the future is now" approach.

What I always found odd was how David and James never got any other offers. I know we offered both early and they both early committed; just struck me as odd. Hope things work out for them at their new schools.
