Another way to "raise the standard." More likely to get 3 teams in the Big Dance in the next two seasons?

Good news for the WCC. I don’t think it gets the WCC more teams in the NCAA tournament but the bigger news to me is the restructured WCC tournament bracket (and possibly rumored restructure of NCAA tournament credit money but seems unlikely). If the plan for Wash St and Oregon St is to wait for the MW tv deal to expire in 2026 and then cherry pick the teams they want from the MW and WAC; I hope the terms made to Wash St and Oregon St make it easier to add future teams to the WCC.

One nice thing about adding Oregon and Washington State to the home schedule will be the attendance numbers at our games. That was brought home to me tonight when I saw probably half our attendance tonight was due to CSU fans. As large state schools, OSU and WSU will have a lot of local area alums who should boost our attendance numbers. While the preference would be fans rooting for the Lions, at least it will add to the atmosphere in Gersten on game nights.

I have no problem saying how wrong I was. With Washington St's upset on Thursday of Arizona (at Arizona) they are in the drivers seat to win the Pac-12; first time since 1941. Welcome to the WCC and welcome back Kyle Smith!

Although I have a feeling Kyle Smith might not be coming back with them, he will be at a major program next year if he wants to be

Jeff Goodman is reporting that the WCC is expected to add Grand Canyon and Seattle in the 2025-2026 season.

The Lions insta account just confirmed this. The WCC should be popping in 2025 with Wazzu and Oregon St still in the Conference that year. If all goes well, I feel like the WCC should attempt to persuade Cal and Stanford to join us, as it just makes more sense logistically and geographically. The partnership with the ACC I think will be a disaster long term for them (I could be wrong). We shall see. Go Lions 🦁

Grand Canyon has been forging a name for itself in a variety of varsity sports. Will be an exciting add to the WCC. The Lions will have to step up their game to remain competitive and this seasons recruits is a good start.

I like the move. Picks up Seattle and Phoenix markets. And both teams have been good lately, especially GCU. Wonder if we’ll try for one more school to make it an even twelve. Maybe Denver University?

GoLions I agree I find it interesting this still leaves us at an odd number of teams. In looking over the reporting from today it seems Stu’s plan was to only add GCU and the Presidents made him add another academic program. This brings a slight smile to my face as I do have problems with GCU being for-profit but I get it, college athletics is a business. 1st 2nd and 3rd and for that GCU makes the most sense from a business standpoint. However, in adding Seattle, it gives the conference some power back with Gonzaga and their threats of leaving/if they eventually do.
