Lions are 11 point underdogs I feel good about the Lions putting together a decent game on national TV.

Lions cut it to 9, but USF chucks up a walking three at the halftime buzzer…go figure

There are certainly criticisms that I could level at the team’s play and the coaching in the first half, the bottom line is that the Dons are a better team.

Yes, the Dons are starting to pull away and I have to say they look really, really good. I actually don’t think we’re playing that poorly, It is just that USF looks like a tournament team.

The level of apathy on this board and the continued mediocrity of this program is pathetic.
We just got our butts whooped

I’ll say it again, I think we actually played well in two of the three phases of the game. They are one of the top rebounding teams in the country and we outrebounded them by three. And they only allow 61 points a game and we scored 74.
Really impressed with our determination on the glass, that was good to see.
However, our man to man defense is just horrible. I know they’re a very good team but they scored 52 points in the paint and shot 59% from the field. They probably would’ve beat us no matter what kind of defense we played, but just like Pete Gillen was saying, “you have to have a Plan B, and a Plan C.”

I was hoping we would beat the 11 point spread and we had a shot but late in the game after a timeout, we couldn’t get the ball in bounds and had a 5 second violation. Coach Johnson was so mad he called an immediate time out to chew out the guys. Wright was handling the inbound pass and no one broke free. After that we lost our shot at staying close. USF was the better team but the Lions did make the effort.

PS I guess Issanza has played himself out of the rotation? Or is he injured?

I would love to see a 2-3 zone with Issanza in the middle. That would keep teams from driving on us and force them to make shots from the outside.

Let's face it, it's a lost season with no hope for a postseason berth despite the preseason hype. With most of our roster being Sr/Jr expect a very new looking team next season.

We obviously will not get an at large berth, but it’s all about just being hot for four games in March. I think we have as much individual talent as any team in the conference.
With Hill coming back soon, I think Coach needs to ditch the idea of having a “big” on the court at all times and start playing small ball. To your point, the season hasn’t gone as planned, so it’s time to try something else.
I think we played pretty well against St. Mary’s and USF, and I’m encouraged by our rebounding recently, the team isn’t giving up but definitely needs to shore up some things on the defensive side.
