With talk about CSJs future, I got to thinking where our other head coaches landed after their LMU stints as Head Coach (post Westhead).
Here's the list according to Wikipedia:
Jay Hillock - Never coached again after LMU! John Olive - Never coached again after LMU! Charles Bradley - Never coached again after LMU! Steve Aggers - Coached one season in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) whatever that is. Then never coached again! Rodney Tention - Bounced around as a college assistant, dropped down to high school, back to assistant Bill Bayno - Who cares, he was our coach for maybe 1-2 games? He has bounced around as an NBA assistant since and just landed in Africa Max Good - Coached one year at a CC then never coached again Mike Dunlap - Milwaukee Bucks Assistant (won an NBA title)
Looking at this list, it made sense for Pintens to go after a young, energetic coach with potential. But I worry that if CSJ doesn't succeed next season, this might be his LAST opportunity to be a college HC. So recruit like your HC career depends on it this offseason CSJ!

Ha, ok this is getting a little comical. He’s under 50 right? He will have another shot as Head Coach. He has the media and coaching connections. What a difference a year makes, from us being worried he would leave for Cal or Utah St and now us practically shoving him out the door.
Didn’t he sign a contract extension last season? The AD that just cut six sports isn’t going to fire a coach who is owed money (again!) Granted he made the right move in getting rid of Dunlap when he did. And unless a donor is gonna back up a Brink’s truck to cover the cost I don’t see it happening.
You beat the Big 3; you are allowed a dud year; which this was. It didn’t’ work. I’m curious how many will transfer out and which transfers he brings in. Even without the budget issues, this AD doesn’t strike me as a panic decision maker.
But I get it; fans are gonna be fans and vent.

Joh Olive has been coaching at Torrey Pines High School for the past 15 to 20 years.

And I think Jay Hillock went to work for the Jazz after he got fired. I assumed it was due to his relationship with John Stockton.

While this year was a disaster, I haven't called for CSJ to be fired (although my faith is starting to crack), he deserves another season at least. On another thread I was writing how it took Sendak 7 years to turn around Santa Clara. But the reality for CSJ is a sad one that I'm 100% sure he's aware of. There are very few black HC coaches in D-1 ball. For Power 5 conferences that percentage is usually in the low teens (Pac-12 this year has 0). Mid-Majors have a little higher percentage. Point being, it's not unreasonable to think that IF CSJ doesn't succeed at LMU (I'm rooting for him to succeed in year 5 to be clear), he may never get another D1 HC opportunity at a mid-major level like the WCC. My guess is he'd likely have to drop to assistant again and hope to get another shot at a low major HC job and work his way up. Bottom line... get it done next season CSJ! We want a NCAA berth!

Not coaches, sorry, but player news. Earlier this week Lars signed with the German team, Telekom Baskets Bonn, currently 7th in the Bundesliga.
Also former-former Lion Gabe Levin has spent the last two season in the G-league. This season he is on the Stockton Kings. Sunday they play the Oklahoma City Blues in the G-league Western Conference Finals on EspnU. Looks like Gabe’s been pretty consistent coming off the bench; averages about 20 minute per game; and 5 points and 5 rebounds per game.
