Our biggest get yet in the transfer portal. Dude had 30 verse Boise State , 20 verse San Diego state , and also rebounds it well. Him and Vide will be a very good backcourt with Johnston being a spark plug off the bench. Merk will also be a starter. Who will fill out our final 2? Pipe dream but I would love a stud big man transfer to come in… with Jevon Porter from Pepperdine being at the top of my wish list. This team is a good big man away from being a WCC sleeper now. Let’s use the last scholarship to get the right dude. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/4897534/myron-amey-jr

I agree Amey looks like a very good get. Excited. However, who is our point guard, Johnston? Or is Amey a point guard?

Amey is more of a scorer but is only 6’2. My guess is the three guards will rotate ball handling duties. There is no true point guard. Is taitz ever going to play or is that spot just wasting a scholarship at this point??

Is taitz ever going to play or is that spot just wasting a scholarship at this point?? Point guard by committee? I don’t like it. You need someone who can manage the offense on the floor. He doesn’t have to be the best player on the team (Ireland, Batemon, Sheldon); but he has to understand what the coach is trying to do. He manages the team during the action. He watches the timing and speed of the game. He spreads the floor. He distributes the ball to the right guys at the right time. A perfect example of what happens when you don’t have a capable PG resides in Provo, where they’ve had a string of outstanding players but an underperforming team. I’ll admit this last season’s Cougar team exceeded expectations and I didn’t watch them at all to understand why. But throughout their WCC tenure, they underperformed with poor PG play. If you want a team where the “sum of the parts” exceeds the individual parts, you’ll find a PG that can do the things I mention above.
