Episode 1:
Not sure how frequently they will be releasing videos, but a weekly series would be awesome. Quick preview of our team has us looking like a good D1 team (regarding size, strength, and athleticism - which was not the case in the CMD days) that can compete with tourney level teams. If we can execute and shoot we will be as good as anyone in the WCC.

I’ve learned not to get excited about how we look in videos, on paper, to the press, the fancy Instagram posts…not saying this year won’t be different, but burned too many times in the past!!

I’ve learned not to get excited about how we look in videos, on paper, to the press, the fancy Instagram posts…not saying this year won’t be different, but burned too many times in the past!! Sadly, all too true. The one string of hope I have is that this team seems better balanced. Last year we had some good players but we basically had 13 guys competing for 3 spots. And we had no one for the 1 and 3 spots on the court. I complained at the beginning of last season that we had no one capable of playing a quality 3. And we got killed all season at that position. We also didn’t have a good PG. we had 3 guys trying to play the position but no one could really do it. This season it looks like we have 2 or 3 guys who can fill in nicely at the 3. That will help immensely. My question is if we have a quality PG. Will J can get the ball down the court but he’s not a legit PG. can Armey fill that role? I know Romar is high on the kid from Oregon, but he’s only a freshman. We seem solid at the 2 and 4/5 slots. I think the PG position will make or break this season for the Lions.

Episode 2 - similar to episode 1, we look like a team that can compete at a high level regarding our size, athleticism, and shooting. I don't know if we have anyone who can break a defense down off the dribble (hopefully Amey is that guy or else our offense will stall), but definitely excited for the season.

Hoping we can compete at the highest level this season - nothing less will be acceptable. I believe we can.

Based on previous performance for both the players and the team, this is probably a fair assessment. The key is — Can these players, as a team, achieve more than LMU has performed in the past AND can they surpass as a team what they’ve individually achieved in the past?
Last year at this time I knew we were in trouble at the 3-spot, and wondered who would handle PG duties AND who would be “the man” the team could turn to at important junctures of the games. Unfortunately, all three questions went unanswered all year. We got torn apart offensively and defensively at the 3. None of our guards were effective PGs, and no one stepped up to be “the man.”
This year we seem to have the 3-spot covered. But I still don’t see a solid PG who can run the team; and I wonder again who might be the guy who can consistently stand up when he’s really needed?
If we have a couple guys who can fill those latter roles, the team can easily beat the projection. If we don’t; well, it’ll be another year mired in mediocrity.
