On the flipside, less than eight minutes left in the game and Alex has zero points, Stine-Carrawell has 3 and Amey has 4… 7 total points and somehow we are not completely out of the game. Most nights I’d like to think those guys will all be in double digits.

Most nights I’d like to think those guys will all be in double digits. The way we are shooting a 12 point game might as well be a 40 point lead for UCI. Tough start to the season. Credit to UCI tho, they are a great team on both sides |

I hate to sound like NBD over here, but they just look bad. Gone is the dribble dribble ring around the rozy and now it’s just pass around the corners and throw up a shot. Going to be another long season. |

Look, I am not watching the game, but for our best players to all have horrible shooting nights, perhaps this is one of those off nights? Of course, I’m disappointed like the rest of you, but let’s not lose hope. It’s a new season, so let’s hope for the best. Hopefully, this is just our one clunker of a game and we build from here. We just can’t afford to have another game like this moving forward. As always, Go Lions 🦁

Glad I don’t read these threads and make my betting plays based on how good you all think they look. After the exhibition sounded like we were a borderline fringe top 25 team lololol. Another loooooong year for the Lions ahead . How do you shoot that bad??

Just found this blog when I was searching for some fandom website but I am a sophomore student this year went to most of the games last year and got to both of them this year as a big basketball fan. I actually think that the coaching was not the issue tonight. We were actually running sets that got up a post up isolation or a wide open shot in the first half. We missed probably 10-12 shots around the rim in the first half. Second half UCI went into a 3-2 zone and we just struggled to get shots off in that. To me the stuff we ran was more advanced than last year. Also, the coaching staff can’t control Alex, MJ, and Caleb shooting 3/24 and 1/14 from three. The defense improved throughout the game and we looked like a team that could defend causing multiple shot clock violations.
Remember it’s only game 2. Only two guys who played 10+ min tonight were on the team last year. Growing pains happen. Look at it this way. Two years ago we lost to UCI by 15 (the same we did tonight). Then we went on to beat Gonzaga and SMC. Hope is not lost
Jevon:
Porter played alright and definitely showed flashes of why he is so good. Had an easy 19/12 on what I could see as an off night for him. Made a couple bad passes but played solid defense.

Will:
Will started with a lackluster first half not doing much offensively but showed why is he our best shooter late in the game. Very much an improved defender and plays with so much energy on that side of the ball.
A-
Jan:
Way way better than Monday. For a guy who’s basically a freshman to play the way he did was great to see. Still some growing pains but you can see what could be there.
A
Alex:
Very poor on the offensive side and just didn’t make his shots today. I will credit Alex though as he does play really good and hard defense.
C
Caleb:
Just not a good game after what he did Monday. Too many fouls and just struggled to get it all going.
D
MJ:
I think MJ is going to either be on or off there’s no in between. Today he was off and just couldn’t make a three. Plays with a lot of energy though.
C-
Aaron:
Did what we expect him to do. Gets rebounds plays hard. Had a good move into a bad shot, but he needs to devolp that so I am fine with that.
A
Matar:
Did not play well. Just looks kinda lost out there and struggles on defense. Young and inexperienced. With Rick out right now it’s hard to not play him at least a bit.
D-
Lamaj:
Played for maybe 2 minutes. Drove to the basket looking to score but got an offensive foul. Interested to see his role this year.
